I never used to break out when I drank. This just started about a year ago. It also seems to raise my heart rate and makes me feel short of breath.

  1. It sounds to me like an allergic reaction of some kind. Either you're allergic to alcohol collectively or maybe it's the specific kind of alcohol. When you drank before, what specific alcohol did you drink? Do you drink anything different now from what you did before? If it's not the actual alcohol, it may be whatever it is they used to ferment it. For example, if you're drinking vodka and having these symptoms, you may actually be allergic to potatoes rather than the actual alcohol. If I were you, I would talk to your local physician or an allergist about this and see whatever professional opinion he or she has to offer.

  2. I could say G-d is giving you a warning, but more likely you're allergic to alcohol... or one of the other ingredients if you regularly drink the same thing.

You can develop allergies and intolerances to stuff you've always been able to handle quite suddenly and at any time. The body changes, metabolism changes, and allergies pop up out of nowhere.

  3. I'd agree with the other answers. Sounds like an allergy to me too. It may not be you're allergic to the alcohol itself, but some other ingredients like yeast or sulfur dioxide contained in beer and wine. Here's a link that will give you lots more information. (By the way, being allergic to alcohol isn't necessarily a bad thing. Just think how popular you'll be as a designated driver!

  4. Most likely an allergic reaction. Get tested - allergies can kill you.

  5. Sounds like some sort of allergic reaction. I'd switch brands and see what happens.

  6. Are you on Antabuse? I guess if you were you would know the answer to your question already. It sounds like there could be a liver or kidney problem. Perhaps you should make sure you're not dehydrated. Drink a lot of water before and during consuming Alcohol, to flush your kidneys.Take some milk thistle and dandelion root to help your liver process the Alcohol and to help it recover also. I think your Liver may not be working like it should, if you're feeling your heart rate is raised and short of breath.
