  1. that might be your body's way to transfer the water that your body needs anyway. that's just my first thought.what kind of shape is your teeth or gums in?

  2. i heard that if you chew ice you are worried about s*x.

  3. If you are not anemic, then it is just a habit.

You have to try to stop it.

  4. Chewing Ice can cause micro-fractures in the tooth enamel...that may later lead to 'chipping' and 'shearing' off of tooth enamel....that would have to be repaired with tooth-colored fillings...

and possibly lead to worse fracturing of the teeth.....

TRY to STOP, change to cold drinks, with no ice, or change the type of ice......Keep a rubber band around your wrist and snap it to remind yourself to stop....

  5. Wait a few weeks and ask to have your blood checked again.  I was borderline anemic for a very long time.  Not enough to get on iron supplements but low enough that the blood bank wouldn't take my donations.  Through it all, for more than a year I chewed ice (and it's not good for your enamel, according to my dentist).

I finally did become badly anemic and then my doctor and I started making some health decisions.  Once the anemia got resolved, the ice chewing disappeared, almost overnight!

    Good luck!
