  1. Something is stimulating the vagus nerve  (cranial nerve 10) for you to feel nauseous. Swimming gives vestibular input (CN8- which sends nerve fibers to the eyes and ears)  that can make people dizzy. Rotational movement can really do that (are you swimming in circles? doing flips? head bobbing up and down, up and down, rotating side to side->side to side??) Over time some peoples nervous system can't handle that type of sensation because of lack of use (use it or lose it type of deal). Limit the head movement and see if that reduces the nausea. SLowly over time increase the amount of sensation (i.e. one session of head staying above water, looking forward in same plane-> next session head turning side to side etc..) see if the type of swim style is getting you dizzy. ( i hope that makes sense)

When I work with special needs children we use a practice framework called sensory integration. When I reduce spinning with them ( which is not random spinning but specific input in three different planes since there are 3 semicircular canals that interpret posistion in space, I notice I am more prone to becoming car sick and sensitive to sound. I lose it quickly but can handle more sensation in the car the more I do it!) But everyone's system is so different and they might not react the same way.

I would still see a doctor if that continues. Good luck! What a horrible thing to feel!

hope that makes sense, my response is given at 2 am in the morning  (can't sleep- ugh!)

  2. For a start, do relaxed breast-stroking, slowly increasing the distance before you do front-crawl which needs more breath and energy. Ensure your breathing is correct--are you breathing out through your mouth in the water? Take it easy if you have asthma or heart problems, and see a doctor if you feel breathless after a slight exertion, whether in water or land activities.

  3. you might be anemic try to step up your diet

  4. do u eat alot b4 u swim???   u shouldnt go into pool if your feeling full

  5. drink more water and eat a snack before you swim. Your electrolytes might be a little off.
