Everytime i stand up, (chair, bed, etc) my whole field of vision turns black and i feel rush of blood throughout my body sometimes,

it stays black for about 5-10 seconds, and then it slowly fades back to normal. I thought this was normal, until last week i was in my friends house and i stood up from the couch and i got a blackout, i had to stay standing and hold on to the table because my legs usually give out, she said shes never had it,

does anyone know what this is ? ive had it for about 6 years,

thanks :)

  1. Postural Hypotension. Blood pressure drop with position changes

Perhaps you do not drink enough water. If this is not it, might want to go see the doctor, there may be an underlying condition (anemia, low hemoglobin/iron)

  2. yes hun if you stand to quick your blood pressure falls and you get black outs and sometimes you feel as though your ears are opening and closing.what you need to do is before you stand take little steps like try to sit up on the edge of the chair and sit that way for a couple of secs and then stand up slowlly and see if that works everybody does that when you stand too fast also if you are on any meds that can cause your blood pressure to fall when you stand.especailly blood pressure meds.
