Why do i have 2 slightly put my foot on the gas for it to crank up the first time?

I have a 1999 Chevy Cavalier. My mechanic says its the Control Module and another mechanic says its the fuel pump and just today my check engine light came on. What does this mean?

The check engine light is good news! That means your computer finally recorded the code that's causing the problem. Take it to your local auto parts store and have them read the code for you and then you'll know where to start.

My first instinct would be to flush the fuel system out and see how that goes. It's very possible that both mechanics are right though.

It could be your throttle postion (TP) sensor or the idle air control (iAC) valve either one of them could cause your check engine light to come on.It won't hurt your engine to run it with the check engine light on, it;s just letting you know that something isn't right and needs to be replaced

you have to take the fuel out of the engine, than put more back in.clean fuel. I'm a mechanic i know this
