If i am watching tv or something..and someone talks to me, i don't hear them, if someone talks soflty...i can't hear them.

If i am looking for an object.. like when my best freind lost her phone, i head it from 2 backyards over.

Also...when i am up really late at night on the computer.. i can hear my parents door openeing upstairs through my step-dads music playing.

any clues?

  1. It maybe because when your watching T.V your mind is one the show, so you zone out who is talking to you.

And when you was looking for your friends cell, your mind was focused on that phone, so you was listening for it.

And when it is really late at night, it is usually quite, so you can hear a lot of things, it isn't abnormal.

No problem it is all good, don't freak out!!!

  2. it's probably a pitch thing.  I can't for the life of me hear my cell phone if my car radio is playing even though it's set loud and high-pitched.  But I could hear my old cell phone which had a custom ringtone that was low pitched (which I can't get to my new phone :()  I could hear it two rooms away in a drawer.

  3. its called selective hearing

when youre too focused to care about something else, you only hear what you want to hear.

and when you're listening for that phone, you hear it

and the late night thing..could be just becuase its late at night and youre not concerned with much anything else.
