every time i go to the cinema i get sick, it's like motion sickness and it really feels like i'm going to throw up i don't but it feels like it and i have to go to my friends birthday party and were going to the cinema and i don't want to say no because it would be rude and plus i want to go but i can't stand that sickness feeling, it's like being a little bit dizy, and motion sickness like i said and i get a little bit of a headache my mum thinks it's because i don't wear my glasses there, but i just watched this film on my computer and i felt the same sickness as i usally feel at the cinema just not as bad so i know it's something to do with watching a moving picture close up and i wore my glasses and it didn't help so if anyone has any idea on what might be causing it and how to stop it that would be great, the party's in two days so i need awnsers fast. thanks.

  1. yes the sickness pills are good advice. i think u may have something called labrynthitis, dont worry its nothing serious, its a problem in the middle ear, which controls balance when sitting in one position and focusing on one point, so causes motion sickness. u would be prescribed a certain type of sickness pills for this, so go have a chat with the doc, only they can diagnose this also. people with this have normally suffered in the past with travel sickness, then it becomes this. if u dont wantto go to docs,t least look up the condition so u can control it, if this is wot u have.

  2. I'd think you are probably sitting too close to the screen. Try a seat at the rear of the theater.

  3. Go and see a doctor.

  4. Hey, tornado,

I'm NOT a doctor of course, but I think it might be migraines.  I get them when I go to movies too.  It's the flickering lights in the dark theater that's triggering you.

Here's what will help:  Get some Dramamine 2 (nondrowsy formula) from the drug store.  Take one an hour before the movie starts and another one just as the movie starts.  This will prevent the motion sickness feeling.

Take two Aleve an hour before the movie starts.  And drink a Coke or Pepsi during the movie.  This will prevent the headache.

Wear dark glasses and a hat with a brim during the movie.  Tell your friends it's the latest cool style LOL.

I would also recommend getting your mom to take you to a doctor to confirm it's migraines, because there's some really good prescription meds that really help.

Good luck and enjoy the movie!

  5. Not Adam Sandler films, are they?

  6. It is likely you are suffering from childhood migraine/variants which may include classical migraine and silent migraine. Cinema environments can precipitate episode attacks due to extremes in a) light/dark, b)rapid temperature changes, c)crowd and noise arousal. These extremes place undue stress on nervous system so it shuts down therby protecting it hence your classic symptoms. Migraine is a genetic neurological condition. Assuming you get your eyes tested regularly and they are A OK then go to your doctor and discuss your current symptoms. Keep a log/journal. It is likely you will be referred to a neurologist in the same way as you would be referred to an optician for eyes.                                                                 As for the party, don't go. You know how bad you'll feel, you should not make yourself knowingly unwell, there will be a lifetime of other partys to go to.

  7. i think they make motion sickness pills.  but, it is best to tell your doctor, in case it is something else.  if you take the wrong pills, you could have a new problem.  do you eat popcorn at the cinema?  sometimes i get nausea from that sometimes.  it also sounds like you are too close to what you are watching.  plus, your mom is right, you need to wear your glasses, sweetie.  good luck!

  8. It could be the loudness or the sound or an effect to the lighting effects. See a dr because it could be linked to something.

It could be when you focus on something for too long. I think you should see a dr beacause it actually could be something you need to get checked out.

  9. Try taking travel sickness tablets before you go,it's the same kind of feeling so it will help

  10. You are probably getting sick because of the horrible Hollywood movies that are being made.

Try wearing your glasses. Mum knows best !
