Why do i loose 5 points for askin a ?

  1. That's just the way Yahoo! set up Answers. The following link shows how points are adjusted.

    My guess is that if points weren't removed that users would continue to ask questions while adding nothing to the community discussions. By "charging" for asking questions, the asker should be compelled to add something back, like answering a question. The more questions you answer, the more you get to ask.


  2. I think the point is to encourage you to answer questions and contribute to the Yahoo Answers community.  If you choose a best answer you get 3 points and if you answer a question you get 2 points, and you've made it back right there.  I think it's pretty fair.

  3. Because that's the rules. It costs 5 points to ask a question however,  you'll get 3 of them back when you pick a Best Answer.
