  1. It may be because someone knows your router's default ip address and is logging into it.  All they have to do (since yours is unsecured) is type in "admin" for the router login password.  Then they may be setting your router up with a password and network name and then it kicks you out. Is it possible you are accidentally logging into another linksys router that is unsecured also?  These are the 2 main things I think it can be.  One way you can be sure it is your own router is check the serial no.(unless you already did) on the bottom of your router and then go to the network connections, right click on "properties or "view device page weblog" and see if the serial no. matches.  EMAIL ME FOR FURTHER ASSISTANCE!

  2. Move closer to the router

  3. This is the most common problem when getting a new router from them, you need to log into the admin for the router 192.168.1.100 and you want to change your channel settings to 11 and you want to Mac clone your computer to that router as well.  Also go to the linksys website to download the current firmware and install that as well.  also go ahead and secure your router as well to prevent others from using your internet connection.

  4. Reset your router, or contact your ISP.

  5. its probably a problem with your internet service provider (isp).

This wont fix your problem but you should secure your wireless network.

  6. Secure your network. When you leave it open, other people can get on it and boot you.

  7. you definitely need to secure your router cause some one can log in and boot you to easy without any firewall defense, i would say it is either some one is booting you or you have a faulty router or a weak router that just cant handle how far it is away from the computer it could also be your internet connection lagging that is causing it, if it is storming in your area that can cause issues also

update the router with the latest , move close to the router and secure it and see what happens if all else fails go and buy a Dynex router

  8. first you MUST secure it with an encryption key. There is NO software to load for a router, it needs no drivers. If your router is not secured, others can be using it and shutting you out. Set it to a new SSID to isolate it from similar routers in the area, or one can mask the other. Set a different channel to any other router you see in the area.

  9. maybe they are working on something in your area? or a storm?

  10. First find out what's disconnecting.  When you're disconnected, can you connect to 192.168.1.1?  If so, the router is disconnecting from the modem (or the modem is disconnecting from your provider).  Call your provider's tech support.

If not, your computer is disconnecting from your router.  Have the router lights changed when you're disconnected?  If so you could have a defective router that keeps rebooting itself.  (They get quite warm - are you sure it's out in the open where it's getting plenty of air flow?)

If not, do you have any other electrical device near the router or near the computer that can be causing a problem?  Cordless phone?  Microwave oven?

Changing the channel on the router might help.  Also making sure that you're not out of range - if the signal is weak you can lose it once in a while, and that will disconnect you.  Make sure that the antennas on the router and the computer (if there is one on the computer) are parallel.  The antennas on the router should have their *sides* aimed at the computer, not their ends.  (Same on the computer, if it has an antenna.)
