ok, i'm a senior in high school (next week :D)

ever since sophomore year, during the winter, I have a tendency to gain weight (especially around belly, because it's in my genes to have skinny legs) I Feel Like a HAMSTER!

the thing is, i'm not that overweight, if i am even overweight.

my queston is, why do i gain it only during winter time, and how do i prevent it?? would yoga help, because i signed up for that as one of my classes at school??

  1. People tend to get out and exercise less in the winter.

If you add in some cardio during that time of the year, your body will thank you for it.

  2. hmm, my friend has the same problem. It's almost funny she gains in winter and then you can see her ribs in summer. Very odd.

What I believe it is, is the tendency to be more immobile during winter. It's cold, your not going to go outside to hang out or walk or anything, so it may be just less excerise in winte.Another thing may be that you feel bored from all the coped up-ness, and with that you may be eating more calories than your body needs. Being that your less active in winter, you'd need less calories because you wont really burn them. possibly you are eating what you would usually eat, but thats too much. Yoga would probably help, a nice indoor muscle building cal burning workout! So good luck with that! Hope I helped.

  3. Because your less active.

  4. You probably gain weight in the winter because you don't go outside anymore. Yoga helps with stretching and increasing your flexibility, but it won;t help very much with loosing weight. Try some sit ups.

  5. well: it is because you would need  "Diet & Fitness and that will

be very important towards Those Daily Excercises yes of course Answers Health  also knowing about Nurtritional Food Groups has

Calarie Counter with 3 Square Meals Per day basically should

help  with  Breakfast , Lunch & Dinner

  6. We're simply more active in the summer.  Plus we tend to eat healthier in the summer because of all the fresh produce.  The winter we tend to like heavier and more calorie loaded meals.  Challenge yourself to be more active this winter.  It's the same for me...Good luck!

  7. *laughs* that was cute! Hamster. If you take a look at the food we eat in the winter time, that alone is enough to see why you gain a little more in the winter. Then account for the bad weather causing less physical activity, then add in chemicals in the brain that are released due to a slight "depression" that the winter months often cause in people. Although the best person to talk to about this is your physician. I can say that if you take a look into the factors I stated for you, you'll find your answer. Also ANY form of exercise is good. Yoga is said to be a great form of exercise! Obviously speak to your doctor before starting any exercise routine. best of luck on your senior year! I loved that time!
