Why do i see people faces when i close my eyes?

Question

When I close my eyes I see faces...they are clear but I am unsure if it's someone I know...I am not thinking of anyone at the time I just close me eyes and focused on the darkness of my lids and then many faces appear!

The retina contains two types of photoreceptors, rods and cones. The rods are more numerous, some 120 million, and are more sensitive than the cones. However, they are not sensitive to color. The 6 to 7 million cones provide the eye's color sensitivity and they are much more concentrated in the central yellow spot known as the macula. In the center of that region is the " fovea centralis ", a 0.3 mm diameter rod-free area with very thin, densely packed cones.

These are what make you see faces after you close your eyes.

Well what I see when I close my eyes and focus on the black spot was a face too. I wasn't thinking of anything. I just closed my eyes and cleared my thoughts. Then I guessed it was a picture of me. The picture that I have here on Yahoo!answers. I guess it is what you were looking at before you closed your eyes. And it is pretty creepy. =]

Watching tv too much. From what I undersand, faces are the first things infants recognize so its not out of the ordinary. I would not go as far to says you see dead people.
