  1. Wierd.  It happens to us all, a little shock here and there, but continuosly - I would be concerned too especially if it were making me dizzy!  Yikes!

I think its true that some people are better conductors or electricity than others.  Id talk to a dr.

  2. Examples of everyday static electricity:

    1) You walk across the rug, reach for the doorknob and…you feel a tingle in your fingers...you've been zapped by static electricity.

    2) You come inside from the cold, pull off your hat and your hair stand on end....your hair has been charged.

    3) You rub a balloon on your head (you must have hair) and wow magic it can stick to your hand...the balloon has been charged.

    Just a few examples.

Some supermarket trolleys have a metal chain touching the ground to avoid static buildup from the wheels and shocks to the user.

In dry days you can get a static shock when you touch other people's hand, because of the static buildup by cloths friction and insulated shoes.

The same applies when coming out of a car.

Also, when you open a plastic bag you may see that small pieces of paper are attracted by it.

Ways to reduce the build up of static electricity:

    1) Increase the humidity in your home.

Air can be quite conductive or only very slightly conductive depending on the humidity due to a phenomenon called "hydrogen bonding": the hydrogen on one water molecule are attracted to the oxygen atom on the next molecule over. If there is high humidity, there is a great deal of hydrogen bonding and the air's electrical resistance is low, allowing static charges to "bleed off" to an oppositely charged body.

    2) Change clothes - switch to natural fibers, since synthetics pick up more of a static charge this is because they tend to hold a static charge longer, this is called static cling.

    3) If your skin is very dry then use a moisturizer, reasoning is the same as for increasing humidity of a room in point 1, if you afford it then try an anti-static hand lotion.
