yesturday i zoned out so many times and looked stupid. i zoned out, "looking" at a guy without being aware. i then came back to reality and looked away. he smiled. another time, i stood next to my friend, who talked to a guy. i zoned out, looking stupid. i then came back to reality and didn't realize that they finished talking and waiting for me to leave with my friend. another time i zoned out, a girl walked to that space i was looking at. it looked like i checked her out, but i wasn't. everytime i zone out, i don't think at all. it's like you're sleeping without closing your eyes and dreaming.

sorry if this is the wrong forum. i don't know where this belongs to.

  1. i think that's called "catatonia"

  2. This is normal. People don't always think with words... maybe you were thinking about something without using words in your head. Maybe you were having a feeling and were focused on that as opposed to thinking with words or noticing what was around you. People experience this all the time when they are doing something automatic like driving on the highway or playing cards. If it is causing you problems or putting you in danger see your doctor... there are things like thyroid problems that can make you spacey or dopey.

  3. It probably is not seizures, but you may want to check out the included link at the Mayo Clinic. Absence seizure — also known as petit mal seizure — involves only a brief, sudden lapse of conscious activity. Occurring most often in children, absence seizure may look like the person is merely staring into space for a few seconds.
