  1. The number is usually the length of the blade. The length of the blade is important because depending on your size of skate depends on the length of the blade that you pair your boots. Higher end figure skates are usually not bought in a skate set, the boot and the blade are bought separately, and then the blade is mounted to the skate, you have to know the measurement of the blade so that you can pair the boot with a proper length of blade.

  2. Blade size 10 means that the blade sole plate is 10 inches long.

  3. They need to be different sizes to fit on different sized boots. Just like there's different boot sizes, they need different blade sizes. Blades made for dancers and synchronized skaters are shorter than freestyle blades. (with so many blades so close to each other it's better to have shorter blades to prevent tripping and the shorter blades are better for edge quality) Freestyle blades need to be longer because they provide more stability for jumping and whatnot. You can still spin easily with a shorter blade but i wouldn't recommend buying shorter blades until you've mastered all the different turns (rockers, choctaws, counters, loops etc).

  4. like the sharpness?

its because ppl do different jumps and spins and are at different levels and like different deepness in there blade

(itz really hard to explain!) srry
