Why do international human rights agencies make China such a low priority?

Terrorism has a dictionary definition as "the use of terror of violence to achieve political objectives" and yet China with a legal system with a 98% conviction rate, executes 4000 people & jails 800000 people a year,forcefully aborts mothers to be,forcefully sterilizes healthy young men whilst the World looks on, or worse buys their products to fund this regime

Why arent the human rights organisations up in arms?.

Because there are 30million people to china with one of the largest armies in the world. Secondly they have the fastest growing economy in the world and every body wants a piece of the action.

China doesn't care. They put these meddlers in prison or deport them if they make trouble there. And there is no legal recourse for them in that country. The government there is all powerful and people have few, if any, rights.

Alot of them are actually but China is not a member state of many of these organizations, and there for has no legal obligation to improve its record.  It has slowly begun to get involved in the globalizing community and the first thing China always hears when it wants to join an international organization (the World Trade Organization for example) is that it needs to improve its human rights record before it is admitted.

I agree with you, i had a friend that lived in Beijing for 2 years and his maid also worked at a prison and she went crazy because they forced her to take the organs out of live prisoners to donate to the hospitals.  The U.S only puts minimal pressure on China because 33% of the U.S economy is based off of Chinese goods.

It's caused by a thing called "money".  China's cranking out billions for western capitalists.  So no one wants to kill the goose who is presently laying the golden egg.

Just like no one wanted to run after the white-run South African government.  And no one wants to put pressure on Israel.  Money talks.  Nobody walks.

It is a low priority. In the UK, we have 80,000 people in jail for various crimes against CAPITALISM like shoplifting and such pettiness.

But the point is that you mention a figure of 800,000 in jail in China which has a population of nearly 1,500,000,000. And in the UK we have a population of just 60,000,000. I can't be bothered to do the arithmetic because I know the answer. There are by population, less people in jail in China than in the US or the UK.

Do the Chinese have the choice about their of population control we in UK get some people want to come in as migrant workers &we are up in arms them foreigners etc etc.  How can Chinese free for all to have kids like we do.  They just have not got the room.  Would we in the west let them come and stay and work here.  As for human rights there is some things we all can do start by stopbeing control freaks.  You just have to look at how we are allowing the world over people getting away with crimes against humanity be it America Eutope Asia Africa Middle east.  Stop double standards in Palestine allowing free hand to yes the Israelis to maim murder&destroy humans.  You all seen them what they did to Lebanon.

Easy, because China just doesn't care what they say.

They know China doesn't care.

The media knows China doesn't care.

So whats the point of critising China, when nothing will change, the media will ignore the story, because the media knows nothing will change,

And that those in the west who are interested in such things, for some reason, don't care about China,

And the stories and press releases will get ignored.

And lets face it, most international human rights organizations are just as worried about getting press attention and new funding, as they are of helping human rights.

Why do you thing Amnesty International spent an entire year looking at the United States a couple of years ago?

They knew it would one, get them press attention, gain them new funding, gain them new members.

So instead of spending their resources publicizing real human rights violations in countries like Cuba, mozambique, venezeula, etc.

They waste it on the US.

Just for the record, during that year, membership in Amnesty International increased by 30% in Europe.

Just what they were looking for when they decided to report on the US.
