Why do japanese car makers rebadge them for the US.

  1. These aren't rebadged for the U.S.  They're rebadged for a high-end market.

    There are still Hondas, Nissans and Toyotas here, but Acuras, Inifinitis and Lexus' are also marketed, just to a customer base that has more money to spend.


  2. To attract customers from different classes. Ex. if you had alot of money, would you rather buy a toyota or a lexus? They are just trying to target different markets. Same thing with domestic cars. Ford, Lincoln, Mercury/Chevrolet, GMC, Saturn, Pontiac,etc.
