  1. Don't take it seriously. Mostly children and ignorant young girls

are fascinated into the comedy shows in Japan.

  2. It's in part Takeshi's fault. I assume things were a little different before he came along. He's so fond of violence, torture, bullying, etc. as you shall see in pretty much all of his movies. Personally I got the impression that it's not a coincidence that a lot of really gruesome crimes took place in japan when he was in his prime as a comedian or TV personality. Most of the comedy shows he hosted were ridden with violence, torture, humiliation. And he was that influential back then, esp. towards kids, some of whom grew up to be criminals.

  3. In their society they cannot do it openly, so the japanese tv gets a well payed talento that doesn't mind playing the jerk and viewers are happy laughing privately at home and not being criticized by their society.

Just change the channel and see their food programs that have always a zoom of two shacking chopsticks with the ended slimy dish... or better count deep kisses in tv (I have been living here almost a year and I have counted 4, boring!)

  4. Eh, it just funny. Remember Tom and Jerry? It's the most obvious form of comedy I guess.

  5. not always. but i like seeing someone getting hurt once in a while.

Why American comedy show always contain boring parody??

  6. I bet they're asking, "Why do american shows always involve people making total idiots out of themselves, like American Idol, The Surreal Life, and Rock Star?" It's just part of their culture and society.

  7. Its not always like that..

  8. Let's face it: Isn't someone ALWAYS being humiliated in comedy routines? In America, comedians are always making fun of SOMEONE. The violence thing may be less common, but J*ckass was quite popular, and it was all hurt and humiliation.

The Japanese shows comedy shows are NOT all like that, but the ones that Americans seem to prefer are the ones that involve violence and humiliation. Japan has a lot more linguistics-related comedy, too.

  9. It's hilarious when people get hurt/humilliated.

Just not when it happens to yourself.
