Why do jean sizes change?

I just started my back to school shopping- first year in college and I spent a long time trying on jeans this year. One of my favorite places to shop is American Eagle and I went to try on their pants and I noticed that I went from a size 0 to a size 4. I've been working out all summer and eating healthy so I was pretty surprised. After I washed my new pants, I put them up to my old 0s and noticed they are the same size... why do clothing stores do this?

There is not a lot of difference between 0 and 4 to be honest.  If you have been working out, you probably gained muscle.

because they are trying to get control of the overweight people and make them feel fat by making the sizes bigger...it's true, what other explanation could there be?  I was actually talking about this with my friend the other day after she had gone shopping.

Because they all have different company's that make them, so a size 0 could be the same as a size 4in another shop...

Different stores, different sizes on label, but it's actually the same size.

If you got both from American Eagle, then it's probably what was said above ^^. They want you to think you're fat...

But I wouldn't worry too much, like you said you've been working out. There's nothing to worry :)

idk that's odd but there always messing around with sizes . iv always been a uk 10 and suddenly i can fit a 8 and i don't think ive changed.

because the old 0's were too loose on the anerexic skeletons..  and since they couldnt make negative sizes.. they needed to change them.

alot of times its about the make and style of why the sizes are different. in one brand and their styles you may where a size 0 to 4 but in another you wear a size 4 to 6.
