  1. The cantle is arched. Are you talking about the padded section under the cantle that has tufts? If so, that is because it is supossed to settle on the dish of the withers off of pressure points. For maximum comfort when the horse is rising to the jump.


  2. that's got nothing to do with horse racing... but

    it's probobly for maximum support.
