Why do kids always say that Green Day sucks?

Remember that punk & grunge are typically considered dead these days. With that in mind: Rap is fading (but it likely will never die away), country is considered boring to many teens and rock/metal (especially heavy and Emo metal) is gaining its 1980s popularity back. Green Day just isn't the average kid's cup o' tea these days. And with the FREE Ozzfest this summer, well, Green Day might fall crippled. Green Day was big when I was a teen but now, over a decade since "Dookie" was released, Green Day just isn't what teens of this generation are looking for.

Green Day is now considered an old folks or a Goth Band. Either way, the average kid don't like that. The kids into the new Goth love them - and - the new Goth is generally A-OK for your kids.
