In all seriousness, why do people do it?Yes, i know!, that people do it to be individuals and they have the right to just as much as moshers and disco dancers, but why?! I mean from what ive seen its just like people are fighting with air, which i dont understand why and how this type of dancing even got started? Is it fun? What do you get out of it? You cant say expressing yourself, i need legit reasons please. So what do people feel is the answer to this?

  1. The answer is simple: They are fighting off the invisible Ninjas!

    Quite ironic, eh?

  2. There has always been a martial aspect to men and dancing world wide.  Often dances have been a means to practice fighting skill... look at capoera (sic), tai chi and wushu where the lines of dance and self defense are quite blurred.

I think that hardcore dances come from this - the difference is I can't see an underlining core to it.  Even krumping has a base and a history to it.  I'm not so sure about hc. But thinking on it, it reminds me of the dancing I used to see at goth clubs  - I used to practice sword blows (I used to be a medieval recreator) in those clubs and nobody would be the wiser.

You could say that it is the same dance style only sped up.

  3. a) they are showing off for girls b) they are showing off to prove they can be one of the guys c) they are buttholes and like to "accidentally" hit people d) it's just fun.
