Why do kids lie when they're not even in trouble?

Okay what he said was so dumb!! He said you have to be 21 or older to get an iPhone while we were passing the apple store. Then I aid why does my 14 y/o friend has one he said he is going to be arrested!! WTF!! He's 10 but why do kids just make stuff up??

I think he lied to try and sound like he is smart. People lie just to impress people sometimes.

because they can. or maybe he cant separate his thoughts from reality, maybe he really thinks its true.

maybe someone told him that to get out of buying him one.

you made stuff up when you were a kid too. tell his parents that they need to teach him about how lying and fibbing and making up stories (not writing stories but you know what i mean) is not okay.

We are all born with a sin nature, and we will continue to sin until the Lord returns. Parents need to teach good behavior from the beginning, but we sure don't have to be taught how to do bad things.
