Why do killer squids have beaks?

I know they use it for eating but it just seems wrong that a creature that lives in the ocean should have a beak similar to a parrot's? How did that evolve? lol.. sad I know

  1. The squid needs its beaks to kill struggling fish. The beaks are more like teeth of animals than the beaks of parrots, which use the beaks to crack seeds.


  2. Because they evolved from birds that fell in the water. Duh.
