  1. kurdish people are like the aboriginal people in present day australia,or the american indians in the USA.however, turkey welcommed kurds to become turkish and live in the lands they conquered.most kurds reject this and think south east turkey is thier homeland, thus they want a state for themselves.kurds also want parts of iraq and syria to.

kurds want south eastern turkey and to call it 'kurdistan'.some kurds r happy to be called turkish to survive, but most live in poor areas in the east with uncivilised lifestyles, and use terror on innocent people.

kurds live in turkey as they cant live anywhere else,i dont hate kurds who want peace,i hate terrorist kurds, the pkk,but the problem is the vast majority of kurds secretly love the pkk but hide it to survive.

  2. Habisce is right...

  3. Look, I've been around enough to know that Trotsky Kerenski is just PURE TOXIC FILTH completely useless to our society and was only born to poison the world.

Any turkish person supporting her is almost as bad.

  4. because kurds are alot of people and they have no country of their own,, they have their own culture and language and looks, but its just that they have no country to really call their own,,,, so they have migrated to  stria, iraq, iraq, and turkey!!!

  5. Not all of them hate Turkey. And if others hate Turkey, it's the result of Turkey's bad east politics and Turkish people's prejudice.

  6. Because southeastern Anatolia is part of their ancestral homeland. Kurds (along with other ethnic groups) are the original inhabitants of the region. Turks arrived in Anatolia relatively late, in the 11th century.

Kurds are not hated in Turkey, the situation is a little more complicated than that. Because the Ottoman Empire (predecessor of Turkey) lost large stretches of its territory to ethnic independence movements in the 18th and 19th centuries, the Turkish republic has been trying hard throughout the 20th century to assimilate all the remaining ethnic groups into the mainstream "Turkish" identity. That worked well with smaller minorities (Albanian, Macedonian, Abkhaz, Laz, etc) but Kurds have consistently resisted assimilation, which has often led to violent clashes between government forces and Kurdish rebels/militants/terrorists. Both sides have suffered (and keep suffering) heavy civilian losses, which adds momentum to the fighting and makes it harder to make concessions for either side. As a result, there is a deep and growing distrust (not necessarily hatred!) between Turks and Kurds, as they try to figure out how to get out of this mess.

    *****

    Trotsky vs. Kerensky:

"To call something a language, in its proper every day use, you must have a literature, you must show where the language functions." Sorry dear, that's just nationalistic bulls**t. A language is a language if there are people speaking it. Period. Otherwise, you are suggesting that native populations of Africa, Australia, the Americas, the Pacific islands, etc don't have a language, which is of course ridiculous and offensive.

"How many chemistry articles can you show me that is written in Kurdish? How many novels, poems of artistic value?" Until very recently, there were no chemistry articles or novels written in Turkish language, either. And I think Kurdish folk songs have great artistic value.

"Which right do the Kurds do not have that is enjoyed by other Turkish citizens?" How about naming your kid in your own language? Broadcasting in your own language? Singing in your own language without fear of harrasment from security officials?

"Look at the Kurds who work for the government, who become politicians..." These are all assimilated Kurds. They are indistinguishable from "mainstream Turks". If a Kurd shows any signs of actually being Kurdish, s/he has no chance of reaching any high public position. Nobody claims that Kurds are being discriminated against purely because of their race, the claim is that the Kurdish cultural identity is being suppressed and/or ignored.

Your post makes the difference in mentality very clear. You are basically saying "all the other ethnicities in Turkey have assimilated, why should Kurds be allowed to retain their own culture, which is not much of a culture anyway?" Many Kurds find that offensive. They say "we have had our own language, our own culture, our own way of living for centuries, why should we give these up to please the Turkish government?" Obviously, this stand-up will continue as long as neither side is willing to make a compromise. Which moves us closer and closer to a permanent separation.

  7. Because they are West Asians or Eurasians as we are,

and our relatives as Armenians were.

  8. Anatolia is the crossroads between Europe and Asia and also have had great interaction with Africa, so obviously it is not a deserted island. It witnessed the births and deaths of many civilizations and the migration of different tribes. Therefore, there was never a tribe that can be classified as the Aborigines of Anatolia.

Being a Kurd is an ethnic identity, and is not a legal term but a social one. However, being a Turk is not only an ethnic identity but also a legal term which refers to the citizens of Turkey and embraces all the people of Turkey regardless of race, religion and ethnicity.

About your question and statements, Kurds are not despised in Turkey. Turkish Kurds have become commanders, judges, MPs, ministers, prime minister and president. If Turks despised them, could they become even president? But, it is not a secret that we hate and condemn outdated customs and extreme behaviors such as forced marriage, honor codes and terror as all the world do.

While Europe is suffering from drug smuggling, can they justify PKK who control most of the drug smuggling traffic in Europe or while they threaten immigrants in German to pay "protection money" and practice honor killings, do Germany and Europe like those behaviors so much?

    Edit: arabella_la_la,

Turgut Özal was a Turkish Kurdish, and if he had hidden his ethnicity, would we have known he was Kurdish today? He went to the Turkic republics, but was it not also him who provided special  Turkish  diplomatic passports (red passports) to some leaders of the North Iraqi Kurds and let half a million Kurdish refugees from Iraq come in to Turkey? Turkey did not even help that much to the Azerbaijani refugees and guess who was still in power back then!?

It is not ill-education, it is their customs. I do not even talk about Turkish Kurds who live in Turkey, but those live in Germany!

  9. In answer to your question Kurds are natives of Turkey they have thousands of years of history on those lands it is their homeland so most prefer to die on that soil and coexist as best they can, regardless of what gets tossed on them. Maybe that's why they say we are stubborn. Yes I am a Kurd. But if you haven't noticed there are a LOT of us who have left those lands long ago to be free. According to Turks this is a fault too because we should just accept that we are Turkish. LOL I laugh !!!...Its a really childish concept.

The double standards are incredible, and yes you are right, for the most part Kurds are hated...this is true nobody can deny it. If I walk around with the turkish flag on my breast and numb myself from my heritage and say "I am a Proud Turk, Oh how lucky for me I have Ataturk quotes at every corner " I will have no problems being accepted. My father, my brother may serve in the army and protect turkish national interest at the cost of their own life, and this is all fine to coexist...but the minute I start freely speaking in Kurdish with my relatives in the street, if I show any pride in my own customs and cultures - if I want to express myself in my language in a public arena, or better still be employed in positions of power, and all my relatives have great jobs too...If I am highly educated and a PROUD Kurd who decides I'd like to open a state of the art University with a program for breeding Kurdish scholars? What do you think would occur if they could no longer make vast generalisations by labelling us uneducated/ill informed and uncivilised?? What if proud Kurds are doctors, judges and inventors??? How are they going to reconcile the past? how will they excuse the lack of resources put into building up the communities of Anatolia? the frivolous spending of funds in building mass hysteria against a common enemy??

No, no it just wont help the Turkish national interest to be an adult about the Kurdish issue because the truth is that the leaders of the country are unfit parents. The truth is going to emerge that it's not about the Kurds at all. Such ideas for nationalist turks who have had generations of hate fed to them, they cannot fathom that Kurds are in the same category as their very self...It would be their worst nightmare... the whole aim is to prevent Kurds from feeling free, powerful or proud.... you must notice, even on these forums the vigour with which people spit the word Kurd like its a dirty word, If anyone asks for any accountability for the double standards present in Turkish society regarding Kurds, they start relating the conversation to bombs, baby killers and overzealous religious folk.

I have already said too much...its just such a sad existence... Abba's song comes to mind, "the winner takes it all...."

Whatever, I am not part of them... I have very close friends who are pure Turks but they agree with some things not being fair....but on some matters things slip out that offends the other, so  we try not to talk about politics cause we start arguing...we agree to disagree... its really difficult...we have a love hate relationship.

What will our end be only time will tell.

    Edit:

Ozal was Kurdish, but did he walk around talking in Kurdish? No. Did he have to keep emphasising his Turkishness? Yes. Anything a Kurd achieves in Turkey is attributed to the Turkish identity. So yes there are some Kurds in Turkey who are in high positions within the Turkish hierarchy....but ONLY because they deny their heritage being significant. Like some others have said, to "survive" in Turkey they have to be Turkish....

Newroz is considered Kurdish and Persian etc; New Year - It comes from the Kurds original religion of Zoroastrianism, they believed in sun gods etc; so on the 21st of March every year they celebrate New Year by making bonfires and celebrating nature. This festivity has nothing to do with Turkish culture and up until recent years was banned because it is a Kurdish festivity. Well the Turks have legally declared it as a Turkish celebration...So you see they accepted OUR custom as their own. And the few honour killings etc; thats because of ill education (as there are stupid people in every people) NOT because it is a KURDISH CUSTOM.

All the negatives in Turkey are attributed to Kurds and all the positives to turks. Personally, I'm Atheist and so are plenty of other Kurds because most of us have figured out that No God could neither create nor cure the mess created by our fellow human being.

There you go Sweetheart, just a snippet...

I seriously cant be bothered finding you ALL the information thats out there, I can tell you, us Kurds are very productive people & yet we dont have a country to call our own. Stop being so lazy and do some research.

I dont know why I keep hoping that you see sense, you are after all the child of a republic who expelled their very own literary giant, The Great Nazim Hikmet for campaigning for greater internal democracy and the freedom to criticize his government. It seems his dream is yet to be realised.

And now you're all so very, sorry I understand....

Well too little, too late !

I suggest instead of misinterpreting information with your sad bias, you might try being wise by being a little more open to discussion. After all this is what we are here for, yes?

Oekaki - I have no idea if you are Turk, Kurd or English, but I appreciate the eloquence with which you communicated the issues between the Kurds and Turks and its birth.

    Trotsky vs Kerensky

Look at the link I provided  above listing plenty of exceptional literary marvels including Yasar Kemal, a Kurd from Turkey who accepted the "Turkish" label  to survive - who so magnificently described the landscapes and the stories of Anatolia.

The Kurdish people are such an intelligent, artistic people more-so because their struggles forced them to stretch their imaginations beyond the oppression, the pain, imposed on their people for what seems to be an eternity.

You have proven all my statements regarding the hatred of Kurds by nationalist Turks....particularly the bit where you cannot fathom being put in the same category as Kurds. You have proven all the double standards. Let me enlighten you of something (Everybody knows that Kurdish language falls into the Farsi category, dont think yourself so educated for mere details) But even the Kurds in Iran are distinguished by their language, let alone the ones in Turkey.

The only provocateur present here is yourself by insulting a nation of over 30 million. Everyone else is contributing to the discussion, but you leave no room for discussion by implying all sorts of degrading insults like "Kurds are forced to marry their cousins". Cousin marrying is an archaic tradition from all over Anatolia, stop being so subjective and try to think with objectivity.....otherwise I have no choice but to deem you no better at thought than the Kurdish woman who has never seen a book other than the Kuran in all her life. Those poor people were made to look inadequate because your government refuses to equip them with the basic necessities of education, infrastructure and the opportunity to advance. Generations of poor people surviving in a rural environment, for heavens sake, it's not rocket science, they need EDUCATION and the facilitation of a different lifestyle TO BE ABLE TO COMPREHEND other possibilities. Hold yourself and people like yourself responsible. You should be ashamed of yourself. Any Kurd who had your opportunities would have delivered remarkable results to their nation. I am insulted by your statements regarding the Kurdish people - Its nobody's fault that the Circassian people did not deem their identity significant. I have read history books, as far as I know the only thing Circassian people were ever noted for was the beauty of their women, which begs the question,

Is the lack of understanding you display, attributed to the fact that perhaps your strength is in your physical attributes?

    Final Edit:

I have provided you links because you claimed that my people dont have a language, dont have a significant culture, you claimed that we do not have our own identity, dont have any contribution to literature, dont have anything to be proud of, but you choose to disregard them completely and communicate an argument in your subjective way. Your arguments are based on emotion rather than logic. I certainly dont claim to be "educated" in the way that you understand. I can tell you that I have met many a person who has completed multiple degrees, and yet manage to sidetrack reality & logic. I dont think memorising the course syllabus, adequately equips a person to deem them "educated" in ALL respects. I shouldnt have made those comments regarding the Circassian people because 2 wrongs dont make a right & I expect better than that from myself. I have every right to be proud of my people, my heritage, my ancestors, my relatives and my family, as you are too. I know many pure Turks from Anatolia such as Corum, Yozgat etc; who are married to their cousins. In fact its common all over the middle east & up until recent history western countries accepted it. It is allowed in Christianity/Catholicism to marry their 2nd cousin, which in western culture equates to either of your parents cousin - in our culture (turkish and kurdish), our parents’ cousins are considered our uncle or auntie. Your generalisations regarding Kurds and "honour killings" are based on a very, very small percentage which should be judged as individuals mistakes

  10. I've never thought about that. I also wonder why?

  11. Just because...

Oh... Before I forget: Say hello to your mum.

  12. They are born within the borders of Turkey so they live with in the borders of Turkey, besides they arent hated so it's not big deal

  13. Yeah, they're not hated. Only the PKK is hated, and they are a very small faction, and don't represent normal everyday Kurdish people, who also happen to be (the ones who I know) teachers, doctors and business owners. I know a Turkish woman and Kurdish man who are married, but it's no big deal. The man was born in Turkey and is, a Turkish person. If you despise a Kurdish person simply for being Kurdish you're kind of looked at like a trouble maker or a little bit ignorant.

At least I think it's that way...

  14. kurds are not hated in Turkey!!! U TROLL
