  1. How could their be a WINNER in a war? That makes no sense. Don't lump all liberals into one group. That's stupid. I don't consider myself liberal, but I am very much against this war, because there was no legitimate reason to go there.

We are in a horrid economic state in this country. Call it a recession, don't call it a recession. It doesn't matter what you call it. If you think we are in good economic shape, you are clearly blind.

  2. Because as long as one single solitary American is dying in a war based on lies it's a big loser

  3. They don't believe they can ever be wrong.

  4. liberals have bet everything on losing these wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, throws them into a tizzy when everything seems to be getting much better.

If Obama does get elected, whats he going to do?

0, zippo, nada.  He knows the taliban and al queida are on the run big time, if he pulls out, they will be back and so will we when we get attacked again.

So, what you gonna do Obama?   Hmmmmm

  5. if the bush admin had a record that reflected a series of decisions that benefited the average American I would cut him some slack, but he's done nothing for the average American. he's divided the nation, wracked up a massive debt, and crapped on the Constitution for 8 years, and offered nothing but excuses and finger pointing at those who have exposed him for the incompetent dolt that he is. he's put us in a deep hole, and he is to blame.

  6. I'm not sure. All I hear about is the recession, and things don't seem to be going well. I've heard the experts warn about the future, though, so I'm keeping my eyes and ears open.

As far as the war goes, it would seem that things are slowing down, which is a good thing. No, I don't agree with war and consider it a bad thing. (I want to mimic a past president that would say, "It's bad! It's bad!" lol)

Is it Iraq that I heard they wanted tourism there already? I still don't think they're ready for that, though!

  7. I find it difficult to take you seriously because you don't use punctuation.

  8. All economic indicators Except corporate profits are DOWN.

The GDP averages in govt spending, so Bush's un controlled deficit spending could be what is officially keeping us out of a recession.

And you dont measure victory with body count. So when our troops were surrounded in Bastogne in WW2 because both sides were basically sitting- we were actually winning?

    thats silly

no progess is being made in Iraq, and no reconciliation among the warring factions. Nothing has changed

  9. All of the people who answered you seem like liberals to me. Lets all finger point! It was Bush's fault!! What a stupid war! All they do is complain. NO ONE is offering a solution. I personally like Bush. Yeah he's done some stupid stuff but don't every single one of you? Every other president did it.

If any of you actually understood science you would realize that solar and wind can't make up this country's energy needs. Why don't we go nuclear? Why don't we drill hear? Oh no we can't do that!!! We'll hurt the mating ritual of some animal in the Arctic that no one of you really actually care about. Stop your bitching. Quit pointing fingers! aAct like freaking adults for once and figure out a solution.

What you don't need to do is vote for Obama. Get someone with balls like Bush but not as greedy. Unless you all want to speak Arabic. Better learn now. Oh....heh......and one last thing ....Treat our marines with more respect! They deserve more that!

  10. doesnt matter whos winning the war, its a stupid war in the first place. and obviously were losing somewhere, it costs me 250 bucks a week for gas.

  11. Because we see what it takes to live everyday life. That is evidence enough that the economy is in trouble. It is not a war. It is an invasion/occupation. Never meant to be "won" and without definition.

  12. The term "recession" is pretty stupid to begin with (and two months or more behind reality)...okay, we're not in a recession...everything better?

We're pretty much winning in Iraq in the same way we were (at various times) winning in Viet Nam.

Who cares about the New York Times?

  13. If this isn't a recession, then tell us what is a recession to you, the price of food has risen, people cannot afford to drive their cars, the price of all things have risen, yet paychecks have not!  Banks are failing, stocks are falling, people have had their 401K's bottom out, yet you don't feel that we are in a recession!  We are only at risk of losing in Iraq if Obama has his way & withdraws all of the troops, then we will have lost!

  14. Why do you only use run-on sentences to ask a question...

Nobody truly "wins" a war in the first place, especially when it is misguided from the start. And the recession is real because gasoline is $4 a gallon and food prices go up every week.

  15. As for the recession, we just recovered from one which began in 2001 and this was the first recovery in the history of record keeping that median household disposable income went down during a recovery.  The technical definition of recession is two consecutive quarters of negative growth. It does not consider whether more people are better off or worse off.

As for the Iraq question, I'm actually a conservative so a liberal can better relate their feelings but here are mine:  We should have never gotten into a war in Iraq.  Iraq was no threat to the US.  In the time we've spent in Iraq, North Korea has detonated a nuclear weapon and Iran has exacerbated their nuclear ambitions.  Israel just destroyed Syria's nuclear ambitions without our military help. We spend 60% of the world expenditures on defense, so we should have DESTROYED a nation like Iraq that spends less than 1%.

We will spend $3trillion on this war against a nation that wasn't a threat and we borrowed every penny.  Nearly all of it from the communist nation of China.  That tends to destroy the Dollar's world value and for the first time in history the Canadian dollar is worth more than America's, and the Brittish pound and Euro are at all time high's.  Oil is priced in dollars, so oil prices have skyrocketed coinciding with the dollar's decline.

And we've lost 4,000 soldiers.  And although the Iraq death count is down, Afghanistan's is up.  Afghanistan is the country with the Taliban and Al Qaeda which was our real enemy.

Now, with $3trillion spent and oil recently at $140/barrell Iraq says they don't need us but thanks for installing the new regime.

    I could go on...

  16. Who told you that things were going well in Iraq? Yes, there have been some improvements, but talk to most people affiliated with the military, and you will be told that the US does not have a firm grip on the country.  Actually, TIME magazine just printed and interesting article regarding Iraq.  I read it in their magazine, but it may be online as well. I suggest going to www.TIME.com or www.newsweek.com for credible information regarding the Iraq war.

On recession, I do believe we are in one for a few reasons.  Rising prices caused by the rising costs of fuel and transporting goods have raised prices.  Hence, the average consumer is spending less.  Coupled with the fact that our nation is also mired in the sub prime debacle, the economy is certainly contracting.  On a hopeful note though, I do not believe that this will go on forever. The housing sector can clean itself up with time and appropriate legislation.  As far as rising prices go, they are here to stay (and will probably go up as the demand for oil and other fossil fuels rise), but alternative, clean energy is going to be part of our future.  Change just takes time.

  17. We've all heard it before...no one wins at war.  The other side won when on Sept. 11th and did exactly what they set out to do.

    Besides, it's all an illusion.
