  1. Democrats have ruined the lives of millions.. no wonder so many people from all over the world flock here to get their share of the money..we are like magnets to all the poor and refuges from the world..but the gravy train is going to run out soon..

  2. Because it works.

They use programs to attract votes. There is a whole group of people that believe the government should do everything for you. The Katrina disaster in NO is a good example.

Some of those people are still waiting for more FEMA handouts.

  3. I am a Democrat and I don't believe that.  How many have you polled on the issue?  Rush isn't right all of the time.  Use your own mind and stop listening to others.

  4. It's probably the same psychology as why conservatives/Republicans believe if you're well-to-do you can't be happy until they get help from the government in the form of tax deductions, tax incentives, tax abatements, mortgage interest tax deductions, corporate bail-outs, low-cost government loans (that rarely get paid back), government funding and special 'loopholes' that give them

financial advantages not available to middle class or lower-class citizens.

Corporate welfare is, by far, much more expensive than social welfare. And the sad thing is: the recipients of corporate welfare don't NEED it. But it's what conservatives/Democrats definitely describe as quality of life: MONEY.      -RKO-   07/19/08

  5. It's a mindset for most.I think alot of them were raised that way ,so they are conditioned. It's very sad.

Life is what you make on your own ,with no assistance from anyone. It's also extremely fullfilling.

  6. Being happy is way down the list for the poor. I think eating is probably number one. Maybe you need to understand that before you try to starve people.

  7. You are on target with one side of it.  They want money, but they want someone else to work for it.  I believe that their policies truly are focused on helping someone but usually at the expense of someone else.  I have rarely seen a liberal policy that did not have some unintended consequence (e.g. let's pursue ethanol as a solution to the oil situation, oops, that just raised the price of food worldwide such that there are people going hungry due to the price increases in several countries...).

I think that by interfering in the marketplace they have not been able to adequately model the secondary and tertiary effects of the changes they pursue.  They will say that conservatives are just stupid because the conservative doesn't get their "nuances" but in fact, they haven't seen that nearly every major policy initiative that has been set in place by liberal policies has had some devastating aftereffect that erases the good they were trying to accomplish.  Yet, conservatives are stupid and liberals are brilliant.

It's kind of a horror film where the mad scientist (liberal) inadvertently creates some terror that must be dealt with by the poor s*****k who cleans the lab at nights (conservative) who is brave, fearless and finds the simple solution to ridding themselves of the monster...

  8. Well, this is the usual open ended question. I think the government assistance you are referring to needs to be a bit more specific.

We all benefit from government assistance. Personally, I like having good highways, bridges, a military second to none, and any number of government agencies that do good work at least 60% of the time.

We currently have two failing Mortgage Houses that are receiving a government bailout that certainly has nothing to do with helping poor people, but is a sound decision and benefits our financial health as a nation.

So to answer your question, you don't have to be poor to benefit from government assistance. We all benefit.

  9. No, they are pushing this country towards blatant Socialism, and in doing so growing this Government by leaps and bounds.  By being a "responsible person", you actually "empower" yourself and your family.  I agree that some people hit "hard times".  But our Government agencies should be viewed as a "helping hand up and out", NOT a lifetime of entitlements.
