We don't have a problem helping people in need. Its a shame you do.

(And of course there are abusers, but this is not who we talk about...we need to find a solution to weed these people out so those who truly do need it can get it with no problem, and no criticism).

And this thinking that because they don't agree with you, there must be something wrong with them? That's called arrogance my friend, and it's makes you look quite bad.

Im not sure. Just as confused why Bush the "conservative" doubled the medicare spending, and increased  the department of education spending from what Clinton had it.

Is the Bush 'bailout' of the banks using our money NOT an entitlement program?

Bigger government is just as bad as new entitlement programs - its basically the same problem. And under the 'conservative', government size, cost, and power has risen more than it did under the 'democrat' Clintons regime - who is FAR from liberal as I know it. (lookup "classical liberal")

When Clinton left office, government health  care spending was at 469 Billion. When Bush leaves, it will be approximagely 712 Billion. I believe, Bush increased governemt health spending about %50 more than Clinton did!

Bush increased welfare spending by 20 Billion. The unconstitutional department of education by 10 Billion, and overall government spending by $1,000 Billion!!!!

Both parties - the republicrats - support entitlement programs. Ignore thier words, look how they vote and what they do to the budget. Your views of politics must evolve for you to accept this, but keep reading, look at the votes, and read the words of the founding fathers, and your views WILL evolve. You will most likely find yourself towards the Libertarian party - who is for maximum rights and the most limited government.

Entitlement programs reserve space at the table for people that wouldn't otherwise get one.

I agree that self-sufficiency programs can be better, but you have to get people off their knees before they can learn to run.

It's a necessary interim step.

Because they obviously are not self sufficient enough so they have to REQUIRE people that are self sufficient to SURRENDER their HARD EARNED resources so that it may be REDISTRIBUTED to the less self sufficient.

Not really a genetic defect but a product of systematic brain washing. Political Science and Sociology is pretty much liberal studies.
