Why do liberals hate Sarah Palin? Isn't she the epitome of feminism?

She has it all. She's done it all. She's had a stimulating career, a great family, a supportive husband. She's stood up for the little guy and helped put money in the pocket of her voters. (Liberals love redistribution of wealth!) Why do they hate her so much?

  1. She had it all.... ?!?!?  a child who is pregnant....?!?!?

  2. Because she is not a short haircutted, scowling, pantsuit wearing angry feminist like Hillary, Pelosi, and Boxer. Plain and simple.

  3. All of that is well and good, but it doesn't excuse the fact that she's become the new avatar for right-wing reactionaries. Her positions are by no means eclipsed by her personal life.

  4. I admire her as a woman, I just hate her social policies. Abstinence only and Creationism in school, wants to over-turn Roe v Wade....THAT'S why liberals don't like her, and that's exactly why they SHOULDN'T like her. Her personal life and choices shouldn't matter, nor should they be the focus. Her policies as a politician should be.

  5. Please don't generalize all Liberals as hating her. I'm pretty Liberal, but I don't hate her, I just don't agree with most of the things she supports, there's a big difference between not supporting a politician and hating a politician.

  6. No. She's anti-choice, pro-gun, has five kids, and is basically forcing her pregnant daughter to keep the baby and marry it's father. No way.

  7. Most will say that she's anti-choice or something like that but what those people don't realize is there really isn't a thing Sarah Palin could do about abortion laws if she was to become VP.

That is a decision that would be left up to the Supreme Court which is pretty equally balanced with conservatives and liberals.

You can disagree with her social stances ( as I do with some) but you should also take into consideration that things like abortion are a non-issue at this point in time. If  after years of having Republicans in office Roe vs Wade hasn't been overturned, then at this point in time when things like the war, the economy and rising gas prices are constantly on everyone's mind, I highly doubt anything will be changed.

  8. You need to understand the difference between social liberals, and economic liberals. The two are not mutually exclusive. I am a social liberal. I am pro-choice, I believe in g*y marriage, I believe creationism has no place in the science classroom, etc... I am also an economic conservative. The thought of nationalized health care sends shivers down my spine. I know, I know, that blows you mind.

But to answer your question, I hate Palin because she an Evangelical Christian who wants to force her faith and "values," which she has even proven that she cannot live up to, upon everyone else.

  9. Liberals do not hate Sarah, they want her properly vetted and that's fine even she said that's fair. I think that she is getting a much easier time from democrats than any of the other short listed people would have.

  10. Ha Ha Ha!!!

She's the most anti-feminist person out there!

She's against a womens right to choose.

She's been involved in scandals that are now being investigated.

She was FOR the bridge to nowhere before she was against it.

She pushed for and got lots of earmarks (pork) for her town.

She tried to have books banned in the local library.  Even firing the popular librarian before townsfolk stopped her.  Shades of fascism!

And on top of all that she has NOTHING in her resume that would make her a viable candidate for vice-president.

She practices politics of division.  She has a vindictive streak a mile wide.

She wants to force her RELIGIOUS beliefs on others.

McCain is an idiot for picking her and it will cost him the election.

Katherine the Great:  IF McSame got elected and then died (he is 72) she could pack the Supreme Court with extreme right wing conservative justices.  Or at least try.  And I don't want her finger on THE BUTTON.

  11. Me I'm a libertarian, and I strongly oppose neo-liberalism, though I kinda identify with classic liberalism. About Palin, well in all honesty she seems to be a tactical tool, another poster child for McCain's campagin implemented at the last minute to appeal to the women's vote.

In all honesty, from what I know of her she seems to lack any true political substance. Feminists in particular, prefer substance over image - not some random goody-two-shoes ex-miss congeniality winner.

Maybe if I show you this, you can see why I think she's a two faced yes woman.

  12. She is the true ideal of an American Woman,

Therefore, the feelings others have for her are misdirected. It is not hate, but jealousy.

Any woman that believes it is okay to abort a child, for the simple reason "She doesn't want it" is unhealthy.

    ***Note: health reasons, are different

    She is married,

She is child bearing (5) awesome

    She has a meaningfull position

    She has a loving husband

I admire her, and wish more women were like her.

  13. she's anti-choice and pro-gun (explain that one)

  14. She is one of the few true feminists I have ever seen.

  15. Well, hypocrisy is a pretty good reason.  Per _The Washington Post_:

    By Paul Kane

ST. PAUL -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee who revealed Monday that her 17-year-old daughter is pregnant, earlier this year used her line-item veto to slash funding for a state program benefiting teen mothers in need of a place to live.

After the legislature passed a spending bill in April, Palin went through the measure reducing and eliminating funds for programs she opposed. Inking her initials on the legislation -- "SP" -- Palin reduced funding for Covenant House Alaska by more than 20 percent, cutting funds from $5 million to $3.9 million. Covenant House is a mix of programs and shelters for troubled youths, including Passage House, which is a transitional home for teenage mothers.

According to Passage House's web site, its purpose is to provide "young mothers a place to live with their babies for up to eighteen months while they gain the necessary skills and resources to change their lives" and help teen moms "become productive, successful, independent adults who create and provide a stable environment for themselves and their families."
