Question:

Why do liberals not recognize that to support the "choice" of abortion is in fact supporting abortion?

It is just like people who are "pro choice" on guns being labeled "pro guns". I see it all the time, yet no one complains about that.

  1. You've met liberals.. They aren't the brightest! This topic disgusts me. I can't imagine killing my unborn child.

  2. I don't agree with that at all. Just because one is pro-choice doesn't mean one is pro-abortion, nor does it mean they're pro-guns. They just don't want other people making those kinds of decisions for them.

  3. I just dislike the way liberals use abortion to victimize women and make them feel like their "rights" are threatened. I find it disturbing how liberals care more about animal rights than the human rights of an unborn child.

  4. What is wrong with supporting abortion.  Abortions are a good thing in some cases.  No one is forcing anyone to have abortions, just giving them freedom of choice.

I support abortions for those who want or need them.

I oppose forcing abortions on those who don''t want them.

    I'm a pro-choice homophobe.

  5. So thus that makes those who are pro-life, anti choice, now doesn't it?

  6. I am radically liberal. I support pro-choice that is different than being pro-abortion.

What it comes down to is I don't want to see anyone have to get an abortion but that is a personal decision made in an exam room with a Dr.

I do not want the government in my exam room telling my doctor what he can or i can do. This not the governments business.

If men could get pregnant, abortions would not only be legal they would be governmentally funded. Why should 9 drooling old men have the right to tell a woman what she can and can not do with her body.

  7. The same reason the don't acknowledge that the vast majority of women are not forced to engage in an act that has pregnancy as a possible outcome.

  8. Because a person can choose to have an abortion or not.....But the choice should always be there!!!

  9. Supporting abortion alone is saying that you can go out and be irresponsible, have s*x with anyone, and when you get pregnant, you can kill all the babies in the world without being held accountable.

Supporting abortion with a CHOICE is saying that you should be responsible while you're out in the world. If you get raped, obviously you shouldn't have the child. If the condom breaks or the birth control fails, you shouldn't have the child. But the fact that you're being responsible is where the CHOICE comes in, and that's what makes it different.

  10. I think that they do realize this. You should be asking, "Why are people not able to see past the b.s. of politicians?"

I personally think abortion is an abysmal act, but I do not think that there should be a federal ban. The states should decide laws for themselves. If a state feels that abortion is OK, then that is tragic, but the way The United States government was meant to be.

  11. I don't take chicken s**t positions like that nor do I respect people who do

I'm a liberal and I support a womans right to have an abortion

In a  country where far too many kids are already abused and neglected as it is, it is very possible that the kindest thing that  a woman can do for the fetus that she is carrying is to abort it within three to five weeks of the confirmation of her pregnancy.

Call it cruel kindness if you will but insisting that  a woman bring a child into a world where it is very possible that that child will have a very difficult and abusive life is simply cruelty without the kindness.

  12. You kind of answered your own question. Being in favor of letting people choose (abortion or gun ownership) doesn't mean you think they should.

  13. We are supporting the CHOICE. It deosn't mean we don't think abortion is good, we just think that women deserve a CHOICE

  14. I support abortion only in cases where life is endangered without it.

  15. Because Democrats were also Pro-Choice during Slavery.

  16. Because it isn't the same thing, Cesare.  I believe in an adult's right to purchase alcohol, but that doesn't make me pro-alcohol.  That would mean I actively encourage people to drink, but I don't do that.  I believe in an adult's right to smoke, but that doesn't make me pro-smoking.  I don't smoke and don't want anyone smoking around me.  I believe in an adult's right to attend a hockey game, but I don't like hockey and won't watch hockey when it's on my TV.  So I am not pro-hockey, am I?

I know those are silly examples compared to abortion, but the language is important when the issue is important.  I believe in a woman's right to choose an abortion.  I am not pro-abortion.  I would advise any woman who asked my advice to choose another paty, like adoption.

Didn't Obama say he wanted to work toward reducing abortions?  Yes he did.  That makes him anti-abortion, but pro-abortion rights.

The funny thing is, conservatives kick and scream about government staying out of our lives when it comes to taxes, gun control, choice to purchase fast food, government regulation of business, and global trade.  But somebody wants to terminate a pregnancy for some reason, or marry a same-s*x partner, or teach evolution in school and they want government to come in stomping with both feet.  Both liberals and conservatives are just nuts about regulating what they see to be the other guy's vice.  It is just hypocritical nonsense.

  17. Abortion is always a hot issue during elections. With the whole argument going back to when does life begin. At conception, or birth? The liberal left says it is the choice of the mother. The conservative right says it is murder.

  18. Who cares? Let's face the facts...40 million abortions in this country since Roe v. Wade. If these 40 million abortions had not happened, we'd have 40 million more mouths to feed; we'd have to have created at least 10 million more jobs by now; and, invariably, these children would have been born into liberal households (after all, do you really think it's conservatives who are having these abortions?!), eating up our tax dollars, seeking handouts, etc.

These idiots are exterminating their own future voting base...

  19. Once again, a misinformed neocon does not know the facts. I am a liberal. I recognize that "pro-choice" is another word for pro abortion. I am a liberal that is against abortion. But, then again, when neocons that post questions that are really statements of misinformation, they are doing nothing more than trying to misrepresent the facts. By the way, when are you going to enlist in the US Military and fight for your lord and saviour, george bush? I am for gun owner ship rights. There have been more restrictions on gun ownership by the Federal government since george bush has been president. As a matter of fact, he has not vetoed one gun control bill since he was elected.

  20. Because we know the facts about what it was like before abortion was legal. People used coat hangers. they suicided, they abused their children, they lost their children, they went to back ally butcher shops. In today's world if they go to the ally they will end up putting themselves at the risk of someone putting drugs in their veins. If people cared about abortions they would do something to get to the root of why people have abortions. Most of the time it is because a young girl has nothing of her own & when reality hits she has to make the toughest decision in her life. The disconnect people like you have with real people shows you don't care about people. If so do something to prevent people from needing abortion but taking away the care of a Dr. for this people is not what Jesus would do.

  21. I'm not entirely clear on what is not being recognized.  I am pro-choice, and support the right to have an abortion without political interference; I also support the right to choose not to have an abortion.  I support abortion in the sense that it should be legal, accessible, and safe.

Have you come across someone who is pro-choice but says they don't support abortion as an option?  I don't see how that is possible.  Some (in fact many) people are pro-choice but would not have an abortion themselves, of course, but that is what choice is all about.

The right to an abortion is based in the freedom from government interference on our personal medical decisions.  Imagine you and I were to share a blood type, for instance, and the type were so rare that we were the only people with that blood type. If I were in an accident, I would hope you would be willing to donate blood.  However medical ethics (and the law) say a doctor can not force you to give blood, even when it is clear you will save a life and it can be saved no other way.  Even if you caused the accident, your right to determine what happens with your body is taken seriously.

So important is this right to control your body, it even extends after death.  Organ donation (which will surly save lives) is always considered optional, so serious is right to control your own body.  So can a pregnant woman be required to use her body to support a fetus (even if you think it is a full person)?  Well, medical ethics says no.
