  1. your overloading your circuit.

    u need a regulator..

  2. You have too many appliances going at once; turn off some while ironing or vacuuming.

This situation is dangerous, because you may have too big a fuse, or even none at all. Some people put pennies in the fuse holder to save a buck. Or a circuit breaker can be faulty and fail to trip.

If either of those happens it can easily start a fire, usually inside a wall where you can't see it for a while.

Check these things out and change your habits. You can't iron and  run the computer at the same time, so there's about 200 Watts you can eliminate.

It's sounds odd to hear of people ironing these days. I haven't done that in twenty years.

  3. Electric iron is a fairly large electric load, that it draws large current. The thermostat cut in and cut out the iron filaments as per temperature requirements.

When ever a large load is cut in or cut out,a voltage drop is experienced which causes the dimming or brightening of lights in your room.

  4. you only have so much electricity coming into the house. when you put a dozen things on one electrical circuit, that means you divide the total electricity among all 12 of them.

the effect is you get dimmed lights cuz there's not as much power getting to it, or the circuit will blow and then you have to flip the switch in the breaker box.

you'll notice your lights go back to normal when you turn other things off. when i run my vacuum this happens.
