Question:

Why do lights turn on or off depending on my mood when I am near?

I noticed this a few months back. There is a light at my work and also a light near the freeway that turn off when I am in a good mood and turn on when I am in a bad mood.

I didn't think much of it until recently when I was told by a family member that they had heard of this on some ghost show on the discovery channel or history or something, but could not remember what it was about.

I still did not think anything of it until I realized that it was also happening with lights that I had never been around before. I know it must just be me noticing lights turning on or off, but they are mostly street lights or lights that are always supposed to be on, and that when they do turn on or off it is either when I am in a good mood or bad mood including ones that I have never been around. I am open minded however I do believe in a scientific explanation since I cant explain this I would like someone else to try and do it for me.

  1. Could be electrokinesis that is triggered by your temper. Basically, you hold in all that negative energy until you can't hold anymore and your body expells through electric waves.

Learn to control it and it has the potential to be really fun ^_^

  2. Mycroft is right about it being called being a SLIder. I've talked about it before.

My partner is one also, and permanently blows bulbs, shop displays, high bay lights or small halogens when she's aggitated and nearly always underneath them. Quite embarassing at the till when the card machine doesn't work, and the buzzer they use to call the manager stays on - constantly, or you're at the supermarket and it goes dark - just over us.

We've just got used to it and laugh it off when it happens.

  3. technopath. that's you.

  4. Most of the street lights are motion-sensored and/or timed. I've had a line of street lights tap on, which every couple I passed would tap off exactly when I was passing by it. I presume its to save energy.

  5. "I know it must just be me noticing lights turning on or off, but they are mostly street lights or lights that are always supposed to be on."

This phenomenon has been explained a few times on here.

If the street light is older, if the filament reaches a certain temperature, it will shut off automatically so the entire bulb won't burst.

Also, it could indicate the bulb itself needs to be changed.

  6. maybeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...

    you are an alien hahahhh

  7. light bulbs burn quickly.

  8. aren't we all just energy? last year,,I remember when 2 cd's players of mine broke on the same day,,the computer was s******g up that day..and the credit card would not work...also at the grocery store the lady's were having a hard time ringing me up..I thought that was strange.

I hear it's something to with magnetism.

    Kind of spooky isn't it?

  9. Takes one to know one.

    You are a SLIder.

    I'll take those ten points.

  10. There is no correlation. You are simply noticing this more often, for whatever reason, when you're in a bad mood. Do you seriously believe your mood swings control the laws of physics?

  11. Maybe you have Electrokinesis.

If so, you could go and show it to Randi and earn yourself $1million.

Although, the likelyhood is, that it is probably just a string of random coincidences, but you never know.

  12. This has happened to me a lot too.  A professor at Purdue University told me that this is due to unresolved issues many times.  This causes an energy buildup in us.  Our bodies express this in different ways sometimes.  Also, read RobertBecker's 'The Body Electric.'  It is a few years old but explains this in scientific terms.

  13. I have this happen allot too. In my opinion it has to do with the energy you are giving off. We are not just physical beings but spiritual ones as well. The spirit is and gives off energy in the form of pure light. So it's not unusual to affect light around you. If you try you can actually learn to do it on purpose. It's difficult at first and doesn't always work but it's loads of fun!
