Why do little kids (younger than 9) have cell phones?

They really don't need them! It is not like they are paying the bills for the phone. Or they really need to call their friends on their landlines!

I would bet it's because the new cell phone have E911 service with GPS. This way the parents always know where their children are!

So their parents can reach them. Kids are doing a lot more stuff on their own and it's a good thing for the kid to have a phone in case something happens.
