Why do local gov'ts protect illegals?

Like if a driver is pulled over for DWI and they have no license the police can't check their immigration status? Literally CAN'T. Who does that protect? Why do they have these kind of policies? Shouldn't an arrest of an illegal lead to automatic deportation? If not why not? If ~I~ get arrested and evidence of a previous crime comes out, they sure as h**l aren't gonna let ME slide!

You are 100% right, I think because the media seems to be so pro illegals that anyone who is deported (even if they broke a law) is viewed as the victim of the big bad government.

Usually, they are being paid off.  There's a lot of cash propping up the illegal community.  The cartels WANT to keep them here.

AMNESTY means never having immigration enforcement!

Those 'undocumented' are actually 'highly documented' with fraudulent documents our government readily accepts.

To be politically correct mostly. The arguement they try to use is that it is not the job of the state government to make/enforce immigration policy, but rather that of the federal government.

Mack Associates, Inc. owns 11 McDonald's restaurants in northern Nevada. Recently two executives and the corporate owner pleaded guilty to felony immigration charges, including conspiracy and aiding and abetting, and agreed to pay one million dollars in fines.

The company employed illegal aliens at their stores by giving them names and Social Security numbers belonging to others. The case stems from the arrests last September of 56 people in Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids at restaurants in Reno, Sparks, and Fernley, and at the franchise offices in Reno.



It's about time that ICE went after the employers, because frankly this is where the real issue lies...with the employers across this country who hire illegal aliens. This should send a message far and wide to people who knowingly aid and abet and hire illegal aliens.



What makes this case so egregious is that it involves identity theft. It's not just a matter that they're hiring people who are illegal, but these people are stealing other people's identities.



More employers across the U.S. should be held accountable for hiring illegal aliens. I would like to see a whole lot more of this kind of prosecution.

Local governments have neither the authority or money to deport.  That's the Federal governments duties.

They could pass laws giving them that authority but the Feds would likely stop them.  And if the Feds didn't, would you be willing to have your taxes raised significantly so the locals could hire the officers, buy equipment and building and pay for fuel to deport?  

My county won't even fund schools or school buses.

Stopping illegals is easy. Just heavily fine and/or shut down companies that hire them.  No jobs, no illegals.  But Corporations rule America so...

Most likely the politicians in state or local government have a direct link to illegal labor. They own businesses or farms that rely on low paid workers.

The thing to do is vote out any politician that is willing to sell out his or her country for a buck.

i don't know if it's a policy that they can't check I would think it more a matter of it's not really possible if you have no info on the person...I don't think it protects them either...I don't think they let "them" slide either...how do you know that they let it slide...I'm thinking they work on a case by case basis their isn't this blanket of protection...it sounds like your anger may be displaced...maybe you should look closer at your local government if your not happy...

If you live in the U.S. it won't matter soon because the U.S. Mexico and Canada will all be united as one with the SPP that Bush signed (Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America). The U.S. will no longer be the U.S. It sucks.  We need to tighten our boarders, not open them!
