Why do magazines show ugly fashions as if they're the hottest thing on the market?

Seriously, I picked up an issue of the September 2008 Seventeen: freaky plaids, babyish prints, puffy crud, tacky animal print...and the list continues. Does anyone else think the magazines' fashion sense has gone bad? Or am I just crazy?

thats how fashion mags are... designers pay the magasine to advertise their clothes... the more "exclusive" the mags r the more xpensive... eg vogue, covergirl, etc... thts y i trust MY sense of style not so called "fashion".
