Why do male Cats leave their homes but females stay?

If a male cat is not castrated, he will go in search of a female in season.

All cats will return to their owners if they are treated well by them, unless, for some reason they are unable to, example; killed/died, injured,  catnapped, was frightened away by a dog or another cat.

If the owner has just moved, the cat hasn't been familiarised with the new place, and might run away as it doesn't associate it as it's home.

Normally if a male cat is neutered he'll not leave home.  If he's let out

and you don't know it, he'll be lost.  If he's not neutered, he'll come and go as he pleases.

Females that aren't spade will wonder when let out and then come home because she knows that's a safe place to have her babies.

What makes you think that? When in heat if your not careful when opening the door a female cat will fly past you like a bullet! Believe that has happened to me a few times with one I was lucky enough to catch her before she got too far away. It was her first time outside and she was confused as to which way to run and I grabbed her up right away. The other one that got out the door never did come back. If your animals aren't fixed they will do the same thing. Even then there is no guarantee that they won't escape and go outside. So it's just not the males!
