  1. The previous answers are good, it make sense! But it's case to case basis too. We really won't know the reason(s) of those over 30s aged Filipinas who "looks" and married a foreigner, who knows if the reason is pure and simple-L,O,V,E,? That two people from two different place fall in love. Interracial marriage existed even in Aztec times!

  2. Not at all, just that the foreigner arrived in that person's life at a time when she's ready to settle down.

    (Buwis, has an insightful answer.)

  3. SImply put, because they can't get married to a filipino--a filipino man won't marry them.  Not just due to age though.  But a simply girl with maybe a bachelors cannot usually get married over 30 unless she is rich or something.

  4. So are to have beautiful and handsome offsprings.

  5. What is the age limit?

  6. Well in my opinion because they like to go abroad and they think foreigner always have money.

  7. The truth is,  when a  woman hit the  30's she  would marry anyone, who comes her way, be it foreigner or  a local--,  that statement may be a  bit of  exaggeration but  that's  close to reality.

  8. That's stereotyping.  The truth is that many are now more aware of what can happen, and are more aware of the typical problems that arise from this.  There have been too many cases of culture clash or problems in general arising in relationships like these, so people are aware.  They have seen many foreign men only seeking Filipinas to use them as alila and control, and some Filipinas seeking a foreigner only to gain citizenship among other things.  So they are aware and avoid that path. There are many great Filipinos in the country anyways.

Many say that those Filipinas you see that are over the age of 30 and are looking to marry a foreigner, are usually uglier Filipinas.  Look around, you'll see an uglier, shorter Filipina tagging along beside some white or foreign man.

Many also say that those who do marry a foreigner end up having a trash husband, but it is that Filipina who thinks because her foreign husband is white, that is synonymous with wealth or status and is automatic.  That is a bad mentality!

Also, the more ignorant thing is that these Filipinas with a foreign husband think that they will have beautiful children as a result of their mixture.  This is not usually the case. If their husband is white such as anglo-american or northern european, the children usually look harsh or unbalanced in features, and if the Filipina is like one of those uglier kinds of Filipinas then the children will look regular or still unmixed.  There are so many guapos or guapas/gandang Pilipina in Pilipinas who look much better (and are either malay beauty or more naturally mestizo and more elegant) than half-breed children from these kinds of marriage. Probably because of their natural colonial mixtures going back from the history of the country. Just walk around Manila or any other city or town and you can see this.

But once again, the point is not all Filipinas over 30 are desperate and looking for a foreigner.

  9. I do not think that this question has much validity.

I'm not Filipino but i met my filipina girlfriend 4 years ago and we been dating since. I'm planning to marry her next year.

Its not she look to marry a foreigner like me, but because its true love, and we fall in love with each other and love each other, thats why marriage is just something official for us.

I'm sure there is lots of Filipinas who got married before 30, either to local guys or foreigners therefore this questions is invalid.

Well, maybe marrying foreigners to some is the way out for poverty but I do not think all woman thinks this way.

Some how or the other, there are ways to break out of the poverty circle. I'm not rich, I'm considered lower middle income in my society and I'm with a filipina.

Let me discuss this with my girlfriend tonight.

  10. I think your question is actually in two parts. Filipinas have this notion that going over 30 years old is going beyond the calendar days in a month and they get to be teased starting at this age to marry and settle down. (In the vernacular, "wala ka na sa Kalendaryo"). Marrying a foreigner is the easy way out of poverty. So if a Filipina does this, she's actually hitting two birds with one stone. This thinking is prevalent these days only from lasses in the provinces/rural settings as the urbanites are more liberal and confident of themselves nowadays.

  11. Well, not to offend anyone majority of filipina's think thats the easy ticket out of the country, seen it maybe 20 times, and out of the 20, i can count with one hand how many are still together. I know this cos my mum did it; pregnant, married, came to australia, got her residense, divorced and got all her family here, all within maybe 4 to 5 yrs. and these ladies usually have no morals, pride or dignity and they will go with whatever age men you can imagine. Men dont go there to look at tourist sites and to lay on the beaches they go there for one thing only, it's so yuk, you go to the airport and you see groups of men standing in the que. And to top it off do you think my dad has learned his lesson, NO! he has had 2 failed marriages to filipinas and married one that is maybe 20 yrs younger, just had a baby, and the age gap between us is 24 yrs. well I cant go on any longer i'm gonna spew

  12. Most Filipinas develop a relationship with their future husband in their teens. If they are still left on the shelf at 30, the prospects of a marriage to a Filipino are slim.

There are however many middle aged foreigners seeking a relationship with a younger woman. The sensible foreigners will bypass the inxperienced party girl and seek a relationship with a more mature Filipina.

  13. The average Filipina thirty-something seeking to marry a foreigner are either single moms who have had unsuccessful relationships with Filipino men. Or single women who simply feel the pressure to marry. In the provinces, this would already border on the spinster age, since most girls would often marry young and be housewives. In the city, however 30 is not much of an issue, as the women are indeed more confident and focused on their work.

The "stereotype" reasons why Filipinas are into marrying foreigners would be- a change in their financial status, a chance to secure a foreign visa and live abroad (a common barometer of success in the culture). There's also the likelihood that their biracial children can enter local showbiz or become highly paid ahletes, their offsprings would be instantly branded beautiful if they are half caucasian or taller than most pinoys. Or the Filipina in question might not be considered a beauty among Filipinos, but a foreigner might find her exotic features simply beautiful, this can give her a good chance of finding a spouse who would love her for what she is.

There's always the love factor you can mix in the equation. The love factor would easily come in the heart of a pinay once the idea of a better life and future can be met. I am stating this as a stereotype, not every 30 something pinay may have these reasons for marrying a foreigner.

  14. I personally think its a combination of two things. For one if she is unlucky in love with filipino guys then she should try foreigners. Also with the cultural mentality of marrying a foreigner to set yourself up and be better off comes into the picture too. Lucky for them there are alot of guys out there looking for good filipina women.

  15. Not to be blunt or sexist, but any woman (who wants to get married but hasn't) by the time she turns 30 is going to start lowering her personal standards on what constitutes an acceptable marrying partner. Actually it has little to do with race or even gender.  Marriage-minded men feel the same way, except that their threshold is probably at around 40-50 yrs old.

Having said that, if a pinay marries someone for th e first time after reaching 30 and the groom happens to be to a foreigner; it may simply be by chance. However, it would be more likely that she has "settled" for him.  Since not all pinays are naturally attracted to significantly older, often previously married caucasians (which is the typical profile of a foreigner who marries a pinay), it would be safe to assume that some "settling" has taken place. Additionally, these older caucasians often intentionally seek out pinays and tend to be much more doting on them than they would have been to their previous wives in the US, Australia or Europe.  This doting is often perceived as proportionate to a higher sense of love to the pinay.
