Question:

Why do many choose to use incorrect spelling and grammer?

It's a bit of a concern to me how many individuals choose to use incorrect spelling and grammer...especially those that include that they are preschool teachers. (I'm not an expert on spelling and grammer but there are quite a few obvious and intentional "typos" going on.) We know you can spell correctly so why don't you? No offense is meant here...I'm very curious. Early Childhood Education's reputation is finally on the rise...we've been looked down at and not considered professionals for a long time. I've been working these past few years to train people that you are a professional...you are a teacher...you are not a babysitter. Let's help by doing our part and acting professional...even when you do not think anyone knows you. That usually is where our first mistake is made.

  1. lol this question perplexes me too, but you misspelled "grammar" like 100 times in your question...hm?

  2. Wow!  Finally, I feel like a real grouch.  I cannot stand this bad spelling and grammar.  Text messages are ruining our children's ability to write or speak correctly.  Ten steps backwards for spelling and grammar!

  3. I have had the same thoughts myself.  There is a check spelling button right there.  Why doesn't anyone use it.  I always use it. I have found that by using this function I can learn to spell words that I didn't previously know.

  4. I absolutely agree, but have no answer.

Just reading through some of these posts hurts my brain!

  5. Lots of kids get passed on thru school even though they can't spell, teachers don't care.

When they get to high school the teachers are shocked that the kids can;t spell.

Well DUH! the high school teacher is a teacher too and knows why the child ended up like this!!

  6. obviously we don't misspell words when working with children. its just on yahoo answers because i like to p**s you off haha

so why don't you worry about your own problems instead of trying to put others down :):)xxxxxxxxxxxx

also some of that paragraph you wrote does not make any sense... much luv..sorry i mean love

  7. it helps to save time thats y

  8. Hooray for you in posting this question!!!!

    My thought exactly...

Yes, it's often "short-hand talk"-- but it casts a poor image when the incorrect grammar and spelling is by a "teacher"!...It  appears that we just don't care...and won't take the time to form an intelligent response. I often wonder what  parents think when they wander into this area!

My concern is that this style of communication is becoming an accepted new language beyond  text messaging.

  9. We are living in the cell phone text messaging era...BFF, IDK, LOL, etc.  ppl (people) are just getting lazy or trying to create a new form of shorthand.  It's too bad the kids are starting to talk like they type...I ask my niece a question and she answered IDK....lol

  10. I don't really have an answer for you but I agree.  I also have issue with all the early childhood education students that post questions straight from their homework and expect others to answer the questions for them.  Why should an early childhood teacher give away answers to a future teacher?  If you can't figure out your basic homework on child development why are you pursuing it?  It's just frustrating to see that potential future colleagues and employees aren't willing to do their own homework.  Do we really want to pass the torch of teaching the children who are our future to people who can't do their own homework?

  11. hear hear

    I agree wholeheartedly

I often am perplexed at hearing teachers talk as well - using ain't and double negatives - it's part of our world, I guess and another opportunity to accept others as they are.
