Because of media, magazines, and there is a certain standard of "pretty" that those people set.

And that standard consists of bone skinny woman.

Looking at in from an instinctive point of view people look for certain traits. A tall muscular man would be able to hunt and protect your family. A woman with big b*****s will be able to feed many children and one with big hips will be able to give birth to healthier children. If some one is too fat or too skinny (because this work both ways, people don't like anorexic girls/guys either) it shows that the person is not healthy and therefore a poor choise for a partner. It is true that our brains have evolved and developed a taste and thats why many people don't care. By the way, I don't think the media made the immages, I think the immages made the media. And what I mean by that, they didn't make you like skinny girls/toned girls, they use skinny/tonned girls because men already like them.

everyone is beautifal in everyway...no one is ugly. people who say fat people are ugly probably used to be obese and so now they are size zero, they like to comment on other peoples weight.

That's because some people are shallow and judge looks on the supermodel appearance. There are those of us that can see beyond all that. I have seen many bigger women that are very attractive. It all depends on the person doing the looking.

Because the standard today is that you have to be bone-thin, but still have big b***s. It's almost impossible to meet that ideal without plastic surgery.

Heavier women used to be the beauty standard. Remember the paintings by Rubens and other great artists? Back then thin women were the ones that were considered unattractive.

Personally I know a lot of "overweight" people who are attractive.

Most of the time people say that because they're either self conscious or they want to get attention.  Media also plays a great role in making people think that they are either fat and/or attractive.  All you see on TV, runways, and magazines are skinny celebs, and the tabloids bashing them if they gain 2 pounds, and calling them pregnant.  No wonder people would think they are fat and not attractive after basically being brainwashed from the media into thinking that they are.

However, maybe some people think that because they actually are? not being offensive

If you look at paintings from different eras and times, you'll see what each period saw as beautiful. Some thought that more full figured bodies were attractive, then sometimes they thought skinnier people were attractive. It is all about society and what the "norm" is at that time.

Unfortunatly most people are shallow like that...being an attractive fat person myself I see a lot of this. I'm not a conseited person (I know it sounds like that) but I'm very confident and that has a lot to do with the people I choose to be around, you just need to find the right people to hang with...if you're in school (high school and such) this is going to be very hard and all I have to say is, life gets better after that, kids can be so mean...all the people who were mean to me in high school about me being fat, guess what...they are fat now! what goes around comes around!

I agree!  I gained some weight and I hear my family constantly telling me I look ugly...I often correct them and say no I am fat, not ugly...I still look the same just 20lbs heavier....now I admit, I would look better without it, but I can still turn a head or two.

Certain people seem to think that fat people aren't at all attractive. In my opinion, it doesn't really matter what size you are; just go with what your body is like. If you really feel like it's a big deal, then just exercise - and make it easy for yourself! Don't overdo, things; you may hurt yourself.

people may think that because, they are insecure and want to make other people feel bad to make themselves feel better. I am not fat and i sometimes think skinny people look gross. In the end its not about fat and thin its about who you are and how you were built. Everyone's different so we should except people for who the really are.

There are exceptions to that. Everybody's gonna go on about their motto's about the media and stick thin super models but the bottom line is that fat people i mean actually fat not a few pounds overweight are gross. It's unhealthy to be that way i don't care what the media or any body else for that matter says. Some overweight people are attractive but I'm sure most of the people who are answering hate being fat and wish they were skinny. Supermodel skinny is not the only type of skinny. keep that in mind.
