because if economics is the major cause of globalization then sociololigists have to play second fiddle to economists.

To a sociologist there is never a single factor relating to any sort of global/social problem. Society has so many facets all interconnected that it would be impossible for there to be only a single cause for such a grand issue. You can't just factor in economics... you must also look at other factors such as race, political systems, etc.
