Why do many sociologists argue that it is mistaken to reduce explainations of globalisation to only economic factors

  1. although it's certainly quite funny to think social scientists just say this because we want to feel important, it's more than that...

    while globalization may be primarily about changing economic relationships, you can't ignore the tremendous impact of other factors. for instance, cultural changes often precede economic changes- how to explain that economically?  If globalization depends exclusively economics, then why does it need the development of new social institutions and structures?  

    it's not to say that globalization may not be primarily an economic force, but it is way overly reductionist to say that is all it is.


  2. i didn't even know some argued globalisation is more than economic.  Do you know any names?

  3. We could make this complicated, but the honest answer is, that would be too simple.  But, it is the truth.  They want to feel important
