Why do media outlets often say Barack Obama is black, only occasionally say bi-racial, and NEVER say white?

I don't get it. I mean, he's half white and half black, and has never been ashamed to say that either.

the Media doesn't view Obama as Black....""""SOCIETY"""" does. Barack Obama is dark skinned, sounds black, his wife is black, and his kids are black. If we all didnt know anything about Barack Obama and asked to guess what color is he...99.9% of America would say Obama is Black. Because we gotten to know more about him and discovered he has a white mother...then more people toss in his biracial facts. But we all see a Black man in the white house.

For that on response to Black =African.....I disagree. There is a huge difference between Black and African in this Country! and only this country. Black is American. Michael Jordan, Colin Powell, Oprah Winfrey...those are BLACK Americans. African are those from Africa. Dikembe Mutumbo, Manute Bo, and Diop. Those are Africans.

It is no different than saying Bruce Springstein, Tom Hanks, and Roger Clemens as white Americans. Yet you have David Beckham, Sean Connery, and Roger Federer clearly are europeans, but they are not white American.

Understand American is a Culture! You may have black or white skin, but that doesnt make you American by culture. Those are implants....not home bred!
