Often I have seen men and women who have obviously been a part of our country's army wearing their uniforms while not in service. I have always been kind of curious, what is the significance of this? Do they do it to show their pride in their country? Or is their some other reason?

I am just asking out of curiousity, thank you!

  1. You're right, they wear them out of pride in their service to our Country!

  2. they are broke and cannot get a job. gotta wear something.

  3. I am in the Air Force, and for safety reasons, we do not wear our uniform when not on duty, unless it is a quick stop, meal, or something.  The Army does things a little differently, but I think they are just in route for official business.

  4. sure why not, pride works.

They can because under certain circumstances, they're allowed to.  We're just not allowed to wear our uniforms in any capacity that gives poor credit to our service or to bring financial or favorable action among us.

For example, we can't wear our uniform to campaign in an election.  But I've worn mine to weddings and or say, many on top of many funerals.  It's also a sign of respect and esprit de corps amongst those who've already served to have in their circle others with the same uniform.

  5. I wore it with pride for 20 years, and these days I do it on certain occasions to show my support to those who still serve.
