Why do men cheat on their wives?

Ok I have been talking to several men on line and have braved going out and meeting some I have one in particuliar who is married and it gave me the creeps I dont understand why married men go for single girls is this normal? and why?

Two reasons they cheat: Either they are not getting what they need from their wife AND if they are getting everything from them and still cheat, they are just selfish.

Married men cheat with anyone who will give it up. They hardly never leave the wife for the loose hussy's but will always cheat once they have done it once.

Lots of reasons.. they're not attracted to their wife, their wife wont sleep with them, their s*x addicts, the thought of the risk is exciting for them, or they are just plain scumbags.

None of it really justifies it.. bit those are some reasons.

I am not sure why other people cheat on their wives, but I am considering cheating on my wife because she has not initiated s*x in 12 years.  I am a "textbook nice" husband, good job, she doesn't work, etc.  But the real problem is that she will not answer the question when I ask "why don't you show any interest in s*x".  She says everything is fine with her, she loves me and everything is ok.

We get along fine as roommates.  We have 2 kids and they are fine and my wife is a good mom I think.  I love her a lot and i've told her that and made it very clear.  She doesn't even want me to hug her anymore.  This is not like menopause, where it used to be great but went downhill.  It was never great, right from the honeymoon she just gets into bed and goes to sleep.  For years I romanced her and made all the effort... once a month she'd let me proceed and then it seemed she really enjoyed it.  But she will never initiate and she certainly refused me all the time.  About six months ago I had the last and final attempted "talk" .... is everything ok, is there something I should/ should not do... what is bothering you, etc.  No answer.  

I am just about insane over this situation.  Although i was raised in a good moral family, and personally I love my wife and don't really want to be with anyone else, it is driving me freaking crazy after 12 years.  

I laugh when I read people on this site say they haven't had any s*x in a few months... and they have been married for 2 years or whatever.  That was me... 10 years ago.  Every year I believed the excuses, believed it was going to change.  I got duped.  I have no idea what the problem is, and I really resent her bottling it up and hiding it from me.

So now, I'm open to options on keeping my sanity and dignity.

Not all men cheat, just like not all woman cheat. Of course it's not normal! It's wrong! I have been happily married for 10 years and neither of us have ever cheated because we are so committed to one another. There are a lot of couples out there, a lot of men out there that are loyal and honest and wouldn't cheat on their spouse.

Men and women cheat for the same reason.  They have unfulfilled needs.

For some of them it may be a strong urge for new partners.  For some it may be a need for a partner at all - this forum is FULL of both men and women whose spouse stops having s*x with them after they are married.  For some its the thrill of the chase, for others its because they have lost interest in their spouse.  Maybe you have sympathy for some of those, maybe for none.

You asked, that's the answer.  In our society today, people always tend to say 'if they're unhappy they should get divorced'.  Its a very modern - and culturally specific - idea that dissolving a family and shuttling kids between two homes is perfectly acceptable, while having a discreet affair is terrible.  Look, NEITHER is a great alternative.  Almost everyone gets married hoping it will last forever and intending to be faithful.  If things go sour, maybe its one persons, maybe the others, maybe both, but when they do, people face ugly choices.  Maybe some people make choices you wouldn't make, but I'm not sure it makes those people 100% bad.

EDIT TO ADD:

Lucky, do it.  Who knows why your wife doesn't want s*x.  Maybe you're doing something that bugs her.  Maybe she's asexual.  Maybe she was never attracted to you.  It is understandable that she doesn't want s*x, but it is NOT understandable that she doesn't accept that there is any problem in your relationship that you two can work on together.  You don't deserve to live like that, and you don't deserve to have to move out from your kids because your wife doesn't want to be a wife.  Find someone on the side.  You deserve it.

It could be fun and exciting.  It could be they haven't had attention like this in a very long time.  Men long for attention and when they don't get it they will seek it out.   They are a variety of reasons that men cheat each one is different.  But more often than not...they do so because of some unmet need in them.  It could be attention, affection, lust, desire, to feel like a man again, to feed the ego...you name it.

Men like the sweet young thangs.......Most (normal) men can see a beautiful woman and look at her or stare at her. However, some men without morals can take the next step and chase after the woman or befriend her.

Why married men go for single women? I can suggest the  single woman may have more availability for him than a married woman.

Also, married men usually go outside their marriage for s*x and there are more single women available for that, than there are married women.

Maybe men who cheat, get  tired of sleeping with the same woman called wife every night. They need her to cook for them,do their laundry and look after their kids,but when it comes to s*x,they simply are on the look-out for younger and sexier females.

However,there are a few good men out there who are loyal and faithful towards their spouses. I bow before them.
