  1. Because they are real men- not like the pus*sy English.

  2. What about people from Bradford, Wigan, St Helens, Warrington, Widnes etc...their passion is rugby league not that  (nearly) non-contact sport that football has become.

  3. The rest of the UK isn't soccer-mad. Rather, most of the rest of the UK is soccer-deluded.

  4. the game was introduced to Wales in the early 1900s, when Welsh people who were teaching in English public schools brought the game home with them and taught it to the locals. As the locals were mainly miners, steel workers and farmers, they were better equiped to play the game than the players accross the border and so Wales had a very successful team.

As the sport was seen as the working class Welsh beating the middle class players of the larger country accross the border, the interest in the game grew and it is still seen as a working class game, where a small nation can compete against much larger nations and win (although the win part hasn't been so apparent in the last few years).

For me, coming from Llanelli, we're mad about the game because even though this is a small town without much else going for it, we have beaten all the major nations apart from South Africa, thanks to the forward thinking of Carwyn James in the 70s.

  5. no decent footie teams there

  6. becouse the Welsh are propper blokes mate. they love a good laugh....a good pi55 up and a rough n tumble.   i moved here from England two and a half years ago and the Welsh are a great people. i wouldnt go back to England if you paid me.

  7. Do they? I would suggest you go and visit the area. Also why did 750,000+ people turn up for the England parade 4 years ago in London?

And that every home game England have at Twickenham the stadium is normally full at nearly 90,000 fans all mixed together drinking singing and having a great time?

I hate Soccer and think it is on of the worst sports out there, but that is My opinion.

  8. Because Rugby is the national game in Wales.

Wales is a tiny place and has very little say in the rest of Britains affairs (or the worlds) - thus they take great pride in things they can partake in, and achieve world status in.

This (of course) is sport, and the sport that they have a good historical record in.

There simply isn't the infrastructure in Wales to support enough people to adore football to the level of the rest of the UK.

The Welsh love Rugby, just as the Canadians love Hockey.

It's just a cultural thing, fed by many forces - usually financial, and those financial reasons are based on history.

  9. Do you have a problem with Rugby? I like rugby the men are in better shape.

  10. sik

  11. No women no cry!

  12. Talk for yourself, I am English, and mad about Rugby, and do not particularly follow football. They may be Welsh, and god knows that is a hard cross to bear, but their hearts are in the right place.

  13. Because they are normal men , The others are Soccer Poofs.
