I agree with you the whole thing is just a weird messed up tangle of morals from who knows how many years ago. Men support it because it helps prevent prostate cancer. However for what reason why people don't use their tool in public is probably for many reasons. I'm just going to list them:

-public indecency is illegal (aka people in America don't want to see other people's junk in public but it's perfectly fine in most of the rest of the world)

-most men are insecure (men think that everyone will judge the length of their wood and think that people will think of them less because of their d**k size, even though the average length of a d**k is 5.5 inches)

-People view s*x and it's related things as very animal like so thus wanking off in public makes you seem like an animal

So in the world many things are viewed in such a complex way that nothing makes sense. It's just something that will never make sense to anyone as to why masturbating is "normal" but not allowed in public. Thus, American rules with nudity and sexuality are messed up.

It is inappropriate to do it in public.  If i had my daughter with me and some dude whipped out his "pud" and started going to town... I'd kick him in his junk.

Other hand:  Men's hormones can lead them to make some poor decisions.  "Knocking one off" either through s*x or masturbation clears the mind, releases endorphins, makes us less aggressive.  With that said, it's still not something that should happen in public.

Urination / defecation - normal, but illegal in public.

That is a good point.  I guess society isn't ready for that kind of behavior I guess.  Most sexual acts that you could do in public would be considered offensive, especially here in America.  And d**n, it does feel sooo good.
