  1. It's not all soda that works. It's only diet soda and mentos. The carbon dioxide in the soda has an affinity for the surface of the Mentos and sticks to it. Tiny bubbles start to form at such a fast rate that it forces a fountain to come out of the bottle. The flavoring in the soda affects the rate and size of the explosion. The more flavoring droplets, the faster the flow.

  2. There are little microscopic pores on the surface of mentos and when the carbonation from the soda enters these pores at such a fast rate, it causes the soda to react.

  3. its not reely exploding its more of a reaction/ i 4get, watch the mythbusters mentos episode it will explain.

  4. there's a mythbusters about this.  the artificial sweetener in diet soda reacts with something in the mentos, releasing gas at a very very rapid rate.

  5. my chemical romance..ops chemical reaction lol

  6. The atoms inside the drink are set at a stable movment rate. If you shake it, it will disrupt the atoms and they will move more rappidly, causing the soda to fizz. "explode'
