Why do mentos react with diet coke?

I not sure I think it is a chemical reation the form of them chage and eplode. We did volcanoes and a kid brought mentos and the coke when sky high but died suddenly. It was awesome.

it will explain to you tht it is not a chemical reaction but it is a physical reaction.

Though i believe it has something to do with carbon dioxide bubbles forming on the surface of the mentos . the mentos sinks to the bottom and releases the carbon dioxide. as the bubbles ries to the top it comes into contact with the carbonated liquid thus causing the explosion.

thats when the soda fills the mentos and t co2 gas escapes

Funny you ask, we just talked about this at dinner last night. Its the Arabic gum thats in the menots that has a chemical reaction with the diet coke. It has to be diet or else it wont work.

because when u put the mento in the diet coke it releases a gas called methan 2.0 which then fuses with the methane 3.0 causing it to turn into methane 5.0 which is to much for the diet coke to handle so it pushes it out the top.
