  1. I am an american married to a mexicano man ,and after spending eight months in his home town with him, I completely understand why the mexican people risk their lives to come to the "Estados Unidos"!!  I listened to my husband for over a year tell me stories of his life in Mexico and really I didn't believe him until I went there in person and lived life the way they do.  Most mexicano's live in cinder block "shacks" with dirt floors, no indoor running water, and no indoor bathroom.  Maybe 5% of the people in his town of 20,000 have refrigerators so they don't know the luxury of a glass of ICED water or not having to do the shopping for the days meals-- every day.  The sewer system, and I say system loosely is horrible, you can't flush paper down the toliets so thats why when they get to america they still put soiled TP in the trash cans.  They don't have washing machines or dryers, all dirty clothes are washed by hand in concreate wash sinks and hung out to dry.  Try washing a family of 8's clothes by hand with freezing cold water and you'll appreciate everything you have here in the US.  As for showering, you better like taking cold showers or not mind waiting an hour or more for the propane "boiler" to heat up a couple of gallons of water to bathe yourself and whole family with ( and not every day --maybe two times a week if your lucky).  As for work my husband he worked at Pilgrams Pride Chicken Factory in Tepeji del Rio, Hidalgo, MX-- he worked six days a week from 5 am til 5:30 pm standing on a cold concrete floor cutting chicken b*****s in half, and only receiving a 30 min lunch-- all for the grande amount of 500 pesos a week (approx $50 US dollars a week ) so figure that out that's a sixty hour week at approx $8.25 per day, or .67 cents an hour..  I don't know about you but I wouldn't work doing anything for only .67 cents per hour!!!  After eight long months of waiting for my husband to get his VISA interview he finally go his interview,  and we spent two agonizing weeks of begging and pleading to the consulate and approx $10,000 dollars to get him his permanant resident card so he could return (legally) to the US and spend three months looking for a job only to get the same kind of job he had when he was here "illegally" working at a carwash for $8.25 per hour with no benefits and trying to live life here in the US and still send money home to his poor family so maybe he can make their lives alittle easier.  Its very unfortunate that he (someone who went to school in Mexico for Carpentry and also worked as a forklift driver in a tire factory for five years) can only get work at a carwash, but he takes what he can get and is grateful everyday for his life in the "Estados Unidos"!!!

  2. America as a country was founded by immigrants. Most went there for a better life. That is the same for the Mexicans. It is no different today as it was then. The only difference is that now nobody wants anymore immigrants.

  3. I know a lot of Mexicans and they say that they come here to make money so they can send it back to their families. Mexico is a poor country with problems with government and with drug cartels. They believe they can come to America and make a better life for themselves and their families. As you can tell our government supports them with our tax dollars.

  4. America has a much  better economy than Mexico, many come here to make money and support their family.  I've also heard it smells better here.

  5. Only took about 1 month of being here before I fully understood why....

I simply wont listen to the immigration issue from folks that have never been to Mexico.

The Gov't is openly corrupt. Average day's pay is under $10 an hour. Combine the two and you have your answer.

  6. Mexico is poor and the US has jobs that pay well.  They can find work and send money home to their families.  That is a great reason!

  7. Dollar is the standard of currencies around the world due to prior US dominance of the world. therefore, Mexicans want a better life illegally, so they jump the border.

  8. america has kfc

  9. That's not a simple minded answer. Perhaps you should visit the country yourself or at least ask illegal immigrants why they left their family and home town to live in the fear of being deported every day living a very modest life in the US and sending the rest to their families in Mexico.

You may enjoy reading the real history and bloodshed of the Mexican Revolution and to get to understand a lot of the reasons why the country has so much poverty despite having huge natural resources. In the era of Porfirio Diaz, Mexico's economy was doing insanely well and the country was really developing into a wealthy country, all which was lost from the Revolution.

Mexico's economy is still in a recession, but it's stable and we're not getting hit by peso devaluation like in the bad ol days. There's a lot of foreign investment going on right now.

Heck, they're opening ice rinks bloody EVERYWHERE in Mexico City, I haven't even visited any of the ice rinks that have been opened this year and I figure ice skate as a hobby. :(

Most of the illegals entering the US are people from rural villages with little education if any, some of them don't even speak spanish. Some of these village communities become surprised and overwhelmed (in a good way) when someone of their own gets a university degree. If more people from these places continued in school and got an education, they'd find legal routes to help their communities. It's rather easy for mexicans with university degrees in medicine and engineering to get working visas in the US. Since many mexican universities demand sudents to learn english, that becomes useful in getting visas.

I agree that many illegals would prefer to continue living in their home villages, but if you saw some of the really poor villages with your own eyes, you wouldn't hate these people for trying to get a better life.

  10. I think America has a better Economy than Mexico right now.

  11. Economics is the primary factor.  Lack of education is another.  There are far more uneducated people in Mexico than jobs that are available.  Many come from agricultural backgrounds, so working as migrants, following the harvest actually makes sense (and is the reason why I agree with a 'guest worker' program.

So long as mexican families continue to have families of 5, 6, 8 children, the problem will continue to escalate. The majority of Mexicans prefer to live in Mexico where they grew up. Some do seek better opportunities, but the majority are just trying to feed their families.

  12. Money

If it wasn't for that, most Mexican folk would stay home.

Racism and drug use is rampant in the US, so if it wasn't for the cash I doubt anyone would want to go.

  13. the same reason (your people), (CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS) and (every body) else CAME TO AMERICA
