Why do miserable people fail in life or do they?

This question is such a gross generalizaton as to render it pointless.  First of all, "miserable" is a very individual & subjective thing.  You may think I'm miserable, but I may think I'm fine.  Second, what is failure?  That, too, is subjective.

maybe people are "miserable" BECAUSE they fail in life

i think its mainly because they have a really negative outlook on life. they perceive everything they do to be a failure. if you are positive and expect absolutely nothing in life, then you don't feel like you are a failure because you feel like every day is a gift.

I've been seriously depressed since the age of 11 but I have had moderate success in accomplishing my goals. I am a world traveler,

have written some pretty decent poetry, and now have a novel published.

Some people are so weighed down with depression they can do nothing, and serious phobias are also crippling. For these people it's not a matter of cultivating an optimistic outlook. Life isn't so simple.
