Question:

Why do modern muscle cars never have superchargers or blowers sticking out of the hood?

A lot of people who modify their old muscle cars include modifications that make the blowers stick out of the hook through a large opening. However modern muscle cars are never seen with these types of modifications. Hood scoops are common and shaker hoods are available, but actual blowers sticking of the hood are never seen on Mustangs, Corvettes, Vipers, Chargers, Challengers, Camaros, etc. What gives?

  1. Hello, its because of the obstruction of view there is a law about how high something can be on the hood and distraction from other drivers.Thats on the cars you listed.

Now why those things stick out is for more air, those parts get very hot and to perform you need air and lots of it. The formula for horsepower is air to fuel mixture and how fast its pumped to the cylinders for combustion makes the horsepower.

  2. to keep the cylinders cool

  3. I would imagine b/c now everything is about aerodynamics.

  4. 1 big thing that was already mentioned, aerodymanics. The U.S. government has certain efficency requirements for cars they can have more powerful engines if the car cuts thourgh the air, because a relatively large percent of the engines power is used for pushing the air in front of the car. another thing is the fact that technology has allowed car manufacturers to squeeze more power per litre. Third and finally, style. Although, in my opinion, theres nothing cooler than a giant supercharger towering out of the hood of a classic muscle car, it's simply just not the style car companies are going for. remember car sales are terrible and they have to try to appeal to as many consumers as possible.

  5. One word - TURBOCHARGERS!

  6. its not efficient now days how many regular people can afford to buy a 900 hp supercharged corvette for 120,000 dollars that gets a wapping 9 miles a gallon...plus the cars built now days dont have as long of a frame they are built to make up for the short comings of older musce cars...

  7. there are no modern muscle cars
